The Hotel Blue is conveniently located in downtown
Albuquerque NM near the Amtrak station and many local restaurants, bars and entertainment spots. The staff is friendly and helpful but attention to detail in cleaning needs work. The beds are incredibly comfortable as advertised.

the Blue is a great place to stay for downtown ABQ. The staff is excellent. The rooms have a huge tv and the BEST hotel bed EVER! Not the quietest hotel ever, but it's downtown Burque, I used to live here so I knew what to expect. That said its quieter than I thought it would be. Overall Excellent...exceeded expectations

I suppose the expectations of each reviewer color their own perception of this property, as well as rating given. That said, our expectations were met or exceeded and we will likely return to the Hotel Blue. The positives: it is clean, accessible, the beds are wonderful, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to be attentive and helpful. The breakfast is certainly adequate and the breakfast area is very nice. The secure parking is convenient. Even though the rooms are accessed from exterior walkways, everyone must enter through the lobby and go up to their room by elevator, which adds to security. The not-so-positives: this is an aging motel, but the current owner's passion for excellence and luxury do show through. If you are expecting a luxury hotel, you will be disappointed. If you are expecting a comfortable, above-average 2- or 3-star motel stay, you will be satisfied.
As to the area, we liked the location, though you will likely want a vehicle to travel to most tourist sites. As to the park across the street, we didn't see any rough or undesirable characters during our stay. On the Saturday we were departing, there was some type of community fair event happening there, with a variety of vendors and lots of people. Otherwise, it is mostly just a small green space within this part of Albuquerque.
We had one small problem during our stay: our door lock quit functioning. The management, without even a complaint from us, adjusted the price of our room to make up for the inconvenience. As I said, staff and management went out of their way to make sure we had a pleasant experience at Hotel Blue. We did!

Room Tip: Our room on the 6th floor, south side, was quiet and comfortable.

The Hotel Blue is in a convenient location, just a few blocks walk along Central Ave from the Amtrak/Greyhound station with a reasonable selection of eating places nearby (but no bars, at least none that we would care to venture in. Fortunately, the places where we ate had good beer anyway!).

We arrived early on the train from Santa Fe but were still able to check in to a very nice sized room with an extremely comfortable bed. There was a large flatscreen TV and free Wifi.

The free breakfasts are very good, and plenty of it. If you need to do any washing while you're staying, there is a good launderomat a few blocks up the road, near the Dog House Drive In. The Albuquerque BioPark/Zoo is within easy walking distance and is well worth a visit. (Get a combined ticket with admission to the Botanical Garden and Aquarium, and plan to spend a day there.) If you want to get to Old Town the buses run right past the door. All in all, it's a pretty good location.

If you're going to be there at the weekend, be prepared for a bit of noise from boy drag racers and poseur bikers late evenings, who like to show off along Central Avenue. It's not excessive, just a bit intrusive (for a time).

This hotel is situated in central ABQ and looks like a motel, the access to the rooms is on the balcony on each floor, i.e. outside, which means that you are exposed to the view of people walking to their rooms and the noise of cars and motorcycles in the street. Indeed, there is a passion for big cars and bikes in this city and noisy engines parade around the roundabout in front of the hotel in the evenings. The surrounding of the hotel are quite dreary, I took a walk out on a sunday morning but I had to go back to the hotel after I noticed groups of latino gangsters hanging around and looking for trouble. Having said that, the room was fairly large and comfortable, equipped with a large flat screen TV, huge king bed and free wifi. There is a swimming pool and free shuttle service to the airport. Breakfast comes with the room, although the variety and quality of food and drinks is quite substandard. All in all, a decent hotel for a night or two on a business trip.

We were looking for a room for one night after flying into ABQ before departing for Santa Fe and southern Colorado. I think it is overrated on Trip Advisor. Blue was easy to get to from the airport, the desk clerk was friendly, and we paid just over $100 including tax. But this old motel is down in the heels. The room was clean but just adequate, and the neighborhood is dreary. It is a mile and a half walk to Old Town and nothing else except the convention center nearby. So ok for a night if you are passing through if the price is right for you, but I wouldn't stay longer than that.

We were very pleased and surprised at our stay a The Hotel Blue. It's in a great location near downtown ABQ with the Farmer's Market right across the street. The beds are VERY comfy and with doors on the exterior walls its actually pretty quiet.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was huge and delicious!
Don't pass it up!
