We were amazed by the many corals and the variety of fish here. The water is very clear and calm. Excellent snorkeling site.

We read the trip advisor information about this place aconsidered say that it does live up to the title of best snorkeling.....its just kind of hard to find.
You cannot snorkel from the National Park as its still considered a sacred place.
From the $3 parking lot across the street you can literally walk to the waters edge in less than 50 steps. Where you go in will make a big difference though as some parts are much more difficult to get over the reef
We found a spot all the way to the right -as far as you can go on the lava rock- that features a broken rock where you can sit at the edge of open water, put on your fins and hop in. That will save you cuts later.
Its not a good place for little kids as there is not much sand and the reef can be difficult to swim in....but we did see some turtles in the water adjoining the National Park.
Snorkel shops seem to allshow up after 10am, so it can get crowded late morn through afternoon.
Loved it so much we went back for a second time in our short vacation time.

We came to snorkel "Two Step" and weren't disappointed but had a bonus of an annual cultural festival. Because of the festival we couldn't park in the lot so found a spot on the street. We got to see fascinating demonstrations of native weaving, music, and more. Visiting the historic sites there was impressive - it's a very special place.

The water was warm and oh so clear. Get advice on where to enter to avoid coral or foot damage. We saw countless fish and swam with turtles. Saw a few eels too. The water wasn't at all crowded with people. We also had great snorkeling on Big Island at Keahou and Waialea portion of Hapuna.

This is the BEST snorkel on the Big Island. The coral reef is amazing, A LOT of fishes, calm and blue water! Go early so is not very crowded. You'll want to spend your whole day here.

This is by far the best place to snorkel in the Hawaiian island chain. Free parking at the side of the road with porta potties. Easy access at Two-Steps, just follow the group of people getting in the water. Eels, achilles tangs, yellow tangs, adult chevron tangs abound. Lots to see just in the tide pools by the parking area. 2/3 days we saw the resident 6-7 ft. white tip shark, apparently he leaves everyone alone but it takes a while to get used to when he appears out in the distant shore break on the south side(if you don't go out deep you won't even know he's around). Get here before 9AM to avoid the crowds that take over by noon. The "noodlers" appear around 10AM (the tourist snorkeling boats), just be glad you aren't paying the $120 they are to be taken to this "secret" snorkeling spot
