Very laid back, relaxed, nice view, friendly hosts, good food and coffee.

Had a wonderful time with wonderful hosts. Good breakfast every morning at 8 with great coffee starting at 7:30. The hosts/owners gave good advice on sights to see, places to eat and travel tips.

South of Kona away from the more touristy resorts. Close to Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park and Kealakekua Bay known for great snorkeling

The highlights of our stay were falling asleep to the beautiful melodies of the tree frogs and waking up to breakfast with the friendly little geckos. Bob and Mary were most gracious and patient with our two young children allowing them to "help" with breakfast preparation and follow them all about the property. Everything a tourist needs, umbrellas, boogie boards, towels, snorkels, sunscreen, etc is available to borrow for exploring the surrounding beauty of the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back to try a glimpse at the dolphins in the bay next time! Thank you!

Room Tip: No rollaway beds available for children, so children must get a separate room.

If you want a peaceful and very pleasant Hawaiian getaway, head to Hale Ho'ola. You'll be welcomed like old friends and treated like family. Bob and Mary are terrific hosts who obviously enjoy what they are doing! The breakfasts are delicious and the conversation is sweet. (And an added bonus is other fun guests to visit with at the breakfast table.) You can enjoy the view of the ocean from their hillside vantage point, and the B & B is well located for daytime excursions to the sites on the Big Island. Bob is a very helpful concierge, and Mary will give you all sorts of good ideas just for the asking! (By the way, the peacefulness is enhanced by no TVs.) Hale Ho'ola was just what we needed after a week with business associates at a big resort.

We and our son and daughter-in-law stayed in two rooms for six nights. Bob and Mary were excellent hosts, providing very nice breakfasts each morning, including fresh juice, a selection of teas, excellent fresh-brewed local coffee, fresh fruit, a daily selection of at least two kinds of breads, cakes, and sweet rolls, and a main course. Everything was well prepared, tasty, and nicely served each morning on the Breakfast Lanai overlooking the ocean. Our daughter-in-law would rather have fewer sweets for breakfast, so some others might feel the same. I am sure that Mary would have tried to accommodate her if she had made such a request. Parking is assured for each guest room and WiFi is free. Our two rooms each had a private lanai with refrigerator. All rooms open onto a common lounge area furnished with a couch and chairs, a microwave, small table and chairs, and a variety of loaner items for the beach, picnics, snorkeling, and Boogie boarding. The grounds are garden-like and very pleasant. They also provide an outdoor shower for washing off the sand when you return from the beach. As in most Hawaii homes and B&Bs, Bob and Mary request that you remove your shoes at the door to the common area and not wear outside shoes in your rooms, the common area, or the office. We found Bob and Mary to be wonderful and accommodating hosts and very nice people. Bob had injured his shoulder so their friend Linda was assisting with the kitchen and room service during our stay, and we found Linda to be as nice and helpful as Bob and Mary. We really enjoyed our stay at their B&B. This B&B makes an excellent headquarters for visiting the Kona region. Bob and Mary will provide any assistance needed when planning activities.

Bob and Mary manage to hit that sweet spot in hospitality - treating you like family but staying out of your way when you want to chill out !

We are a family of five - 3 teenage kids with lots of energy and lots of appetite - our hosts helped us out many times with local suggestions for things to do for the former - saved us lots of time and money - and the latter , well Mary's Hawaiian style breakfast buffet with local Kona coffee gave us all a great start to every day on the Island - the rest was up to us and we had the time of of our lives.

It was also cool to meet different international guests every other day at the breakfast table - lots of interesting travel conversations can be had - or you can just keep to yourself on your private verandah or downstairs common areas.

If you want a place with character, with hosts that are just regular folks that care that you enjoy your stay - this is the B & B for you

We have been during christmas 2013 in this lovingly and bright appointed home. I love this kind of appointing, it remember me at italien Livestile. The breakfast made by Mary was great special and the talks with Bob helpfull as well as funny! ;-) Both are huge hosts and we did enjoy our stay. If we would stay a second time on big Island we would coming to you again. Thank you Mary & Bob and have a HAPPY HEALPHY NEW YEAR! Germany city Leipzig / Christian & Sabine
