“Pleasant rest area”
Reviewed 23 June 2011

Lagoon Creek is a rest area that is located alongside Hwy 101, about 10 miles south of Crescent City. If you're traveling south, the park is on your right side after you come down the hill and just after the road turns inland away from the ocean. It is out of the coastal breeze.

There is room for RVs to enter and turn around in the parking lot loop, and there are flush toilet restrooms here. The views are pleasant, although you cannot see the ocean.

The present day lagoon is a natural lagoon, but it was enlarged in the during WWII and became a mill pond for a lumber company. The lumber company went out of business in the late 1950's and the lagoon was allowed to return to its natural state. There is an informational sign that tells the history of Lagoon Creek.

There are hiking trails that head off from this little park.

This is a pleasant place to stop to stretch your legs and relax for a few minutes :-)
