Only got to stay for 1 night as we were driving through. Fantastic location just out of the town itself, with direct access to the beach from your room. View is great and the sunset was excellent (guess we got lucky with the winter weather!). Price was spot on for quality of the motel. Room was large and clean and there was free coffee, oatmeal and fruit in the morning next to reception.
Staff at the front desk were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, giving us a good recommendation for dinner. Only 2 min drive and you are back in town with restaurants, shops and supermarket.
Would stay again if we are ever back along the West coast.

Thanks for the kind words! Happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. The weather this winter has been a little atypical, but we're not going to complain. The sunsets truly have been magnificent.

We had a great time at this motel! Nice clean rooms. Just open your sliding glass doors and you are on a beautiful beach! We found lots of sand dollars, it was great fun for our family! The front desk was very friendly and helpful. You are also near great dining and entertainment with ocean world! We loved the gift shop at ocean world. We found lots of fun gifts to bring home and share. We will definitely be coming back to crescent beach motel on our family vacation next year! :)

We stayed in unit 7 which appeared to be in a newer wing of the motel. The room was standard motel fare for a midrange motel. Our room was a single queen with a table to sit at and a desk. The room was very clean including the bathroom which was spotless. Where this hotel shines is the location on the beach, as other reviewers have said if you were any closer your bedsheets would get wet. The location is just south of town so if you need anything its a two minute drive or a ten-fifteen minute walk. We stayed in mid November so the weather was a little cooler but still nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was coffee and fruit available beside the office in the morning. The wifi in the room was a little weak. Overall it was a very pleasant place to stay and would recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: The south building appears to be newer.

Hi Mayhamfx,

We are very glad that you enjoyed your stay and appreciate posting a great review. The cleaning team works very hard and I will let them know that you mentioned the cleanliness on a Trip Advisor review. A little praise like that will make their day (thank you). We hope that your travels allow for more stays in the future!

My wife's grandpa and his late wife have stayed in this motel around 15 times and he recommended we stay there. This place was perfect we will definitely have to go back in the summer when it is a little warmer. They should put sand dollar capital on there sign wow!!!!! we finally had to tell the kids to stop finding them and leave some for other kids. Seriously though this place had extremely helpful staff along with a wide array of brochures for anything you could possibly think of doing in the surrounding area. The rooms were cozy and comfortable nothing fancy but I was there for the beautiful view from room#5 out of the back sliding glass door. Beds were comfy with 2 pillows per bed glad I brought my own along. They actually have the Kuereg single serve coffee makers in the rooms. Tip bring your favorite Kuereg coffee along and feel even more at home while you set on the expansive covered deck enjoying the sights and sound of the ocean.

Room Tip: Get a room farthest from the front desk, less noisy, and more private feel.

Hi Russell B,

Thank you for posting such a nice review and leaving the Kuerig coffee tip about bringing their own favorite flavors. If anyone needs extra blankets or pillows, we have them available in the office at no extra cost.

You are so right about the sand dollars! I thought there would be a shortage after seeing so many collected day after day, but they keep washing ashore each time the tide comes in. Let’s just say there will be plenty more when you return! Make it soon, if you will. 

Can't beat the location, the wide beach is right out the door of your room. Beautiful views, peaceful and quiet. Room was clean and nicely cared for. It's a motel--don't expect anything fancy by any means, but it's hard to beat for the location. The people who run the motel are friendly and helpful, there's coffee and fruit in the lobby for breakfast. Exactly what I was looking for and even more than I was expecting. And you can't beat the price. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Anything facing the ocean. Some rooms do face the parking lot / Highway 101.

Nothing fancy about the Crescent Beach Hotel except the view. The room was clean and very basic. The hotel is on the beach. There is easy access for walking and we had a nice sunset view.
There are no restaurants within reasonable walking distance. You will need to drive to town for dinning.

Hi PVR75,
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay. If you ever need food delivered, there is a Thai restaurant and a pizza place that deliver right to your door. The Chart room is at the end of the beach and many people walk to and from lunch and dinner there, but it is about a mile each way. A short drive does open up a whole lot food choices. Thank you for replying and for such a nice review.

You're kidding, right? I'm pretty sure there is not a lodging right on the sand for this price on the entire left coast. OK, maybe Mexico. And OK, it's never sunny in Crescent City.
But if you love cool grey overcast days to walk on the beach, maybe do some writing or reading, this is your place. Single? Grab that bottle of Grey Goose, order a pizza delivered from --you're gonna hate me for this--Pizza Hut, get hammered, pig out, and leave your window open for the waves to rock you to sleep! (BTW, the Hut is the only game in town and the thin crust veggie is pretty darned good).
Next day, head up to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, check out the Darlingtonia californicus (Cobra lily or Pitcher plant), snap some photos and take a gander at the amazing Smith River.
Then head back to the motel on the beach for another evening of cool staring at the Pacific Ocean while you sip your cold Chard form one of the rooms with a small fridge.
Worth every penny.
