“Great Experience!”
Reviewed 14 July 2010

We stayed over the July 4th holiday. Weather was clear but windy & cool. Tons of people on the beach with campfires & fireworks! VERY CLEAN rooms & AWESOME view! Front desk was helpful & friendly. Visitor's Center in town was also very helpful. Enjoyed Battery Lighthouse at low tide, Jedediah Redwoods (Howland Hill Rd), Redwoods, coastline up to Oregon. Also several good restaurants, such as Chart Room (with seals in the harbor) & Good Harvest Cafe. Hope to stay again!

We stayed there last night on our way up the coast from Napa to Portland. When we opened the door to our room we both were so happy with the view. I'm pretty sure that every room in this motel has a spectacular view of the Pacific. Don't expect luxury. This is an old-fashioned motel. The people at the check-in desk are friendly and the housekeeping staff are to be commended for keeping a past-its-prime motel sparkling clean.

I read all the reviews (thanks to TA), and thought I knew what to expect. Big surprise--even better than I hoped for! First off, called the manager, Bill, to book the room. Nothing but helpful. I was greatly surprised by the spacious room. For 3 adults, we had two (firm) queen beds, separated by two walls. The room (#15) did face the ocean and smoking was allowed. Motel is an older place, but it was clean, comfy, with lots of hot water. Everyone working there went out of thier way to help. Hot coffee, cacao, and oatmeal available between 6:30 A.M. & 9:45 P.M. was a fantastic treat. This is a perfect location for all your needs! The beach is only yards away. Town is only 2 miles north. The Trees of Mystery are some 17 miles south. You need only travel 50 miles north or south to see all the coastline you could want. It rained most of the 4 days that we stayed there. But we had a ball!! Three very good restaurants were less than 3 miles, going north. They were; The Chart Room, The Good Harvest Cafe, and downtown to Denny's. Everywhere we went, the people were more than eager to help. A fantastic Redwoods Adventure is located a mere 7 miles out of Crescent City. Go north through town on 101, turn off on 199 (heading for Grants Pass) only 2 or 3 miles--on your left, is "Simpson-Reed Grove". The road is gravel and about 1 mile long. It"s full of all the large Redwoods you could want & no charge. We looked everywhere (down south by Orick) and found no elk on our first day. Only 1/2 mile south, we turned off for the "overlook" with it's great view and low and behold, we found our elk! The Managers of the Crescent Beach Motel have all the pamplets and information, plus the patients of Jobe, that you will ever need. You only have to ask. The only drawback I found was the cooler and wetter weather, big deal. Be sure to ask for a room facing the ocean.

This was my second stay there. Very nice and relaxing! Room is standard, nothing fancy, but very clean. Very nice and friendly people on reception. And, of course, the location is just amazing! From the back door you get right on the beach! :) Will definitely stay again!

Stayed the night recently with friends at this motel in Crescent City. We got one of the more expensive rooms that front the beach. Although the there was a lot of fog that prevented us from getting a nice sunset over the Pacific Ocean, it was still nice to sit on the boardwalk right outside our rooms and have wine and cheese in the evening and hot coffee and pastries in the morning. The room was comfortable and clean although not fancy. The staff were very friendly. I know some people have commented about road noise - highway 101 is right outside - but we heard nothing but the sound of waves in our beach-front room. Road noise is probably a factor on the other side of the motel. There is also a decent but not great cafe next door but there isn't a lot to choose from in Crescent City in terms of fine dining.

This was the second time I stayed at this motel and I will stay again. The rooms decor is a little dated, but that's ok with me. The rooms are clean and you get to look out on the ocean. The ocean is so close you can use it for a lulaby.

There had been several good reviews on this site so we decided to make our reservation despite being a little concerned by the poor website fo the motel. We were pleasantly surprised.

We were driving down from Vancouver, BC and were making a stop over on our way to Los Angeles. We wanted to see the Redwood Forest and Crescent City seemed the perfect place to start.

The view and the beach out front of our room were wonderful. We didn't hear the road traffic at all but the sound of the waves was something I'd never heard before so it took a bit of time to fall asleep. The rooms are definitely a bit dated but you can tell that the owners have in more recent years been doing some updates. The deck out front appeared to be quite new as did the shower walls and the curtains. Our room was very clean as were the grounds around the motel. The bed was okay but far from the best we'd ever slept on. However, being that we paid a little over a $100.00 for the room and factoring in the beautiful ocean, it was well worth it.

The couple at the front desk was pleasant and we have no complaints about the service.

Our only comment is the owner really needs to update their website.
