We stayed in the Kamping Kabins. The campground is beautiful. Our sites were spacious and set in the redwooods - very peaceful and gorgeous. We walked the property and saw that the tent campsites were very spacious and beautiful as well. Restrooms were clean. The only complaint I had would be that the restrooms were closed in the morning for cleaning before the posted cleaning hours (when we needed to shower) about 9 a.m. The posted hours were quite a bit later (when most people are well on their way). Overall, I would definitely stay here again. My children (young adults) really enjoyed this place as well.

Our one-night stay at the KOA Crescent City campground was easily one of THE best camping experiences I've had. We were staying here for one night as a mid-point stop on the way up the coast back to Portland, OR, so we weren't expecting much for an overnight. When we arrived at the campsite, we were amazed at the primitive sites located in the groves of Redwoods. Our site had no water or electric hookups - none of the Redwood sites do. However, the large campsite was more than worth it, as was the majesty of the giant Redwoods surrounding us. Both of the bathroom areas at this campground were extremely clean, as were the shower facilities. Surprisingly, neither of the restrooms or showers were overly crowded on a Saturday morning.

The location of this KOA campground is close to the town of Crescent City, which offers any amenities you may need during your stay. Since it is a smaller town, though, some stores/gas stations do close early.

One point to note: The Redwood campsites are VERY dark at night and can be confusing if you are walking to the nearby restrooms. Be sure to take a flashlight for this walk - you WILL need it. On the plus side, though, the dark and the quiet make for a very peaceful evening. At $25 a night, this is an economical trip that'll make some great memories!

I would really encourage anyone who needs a beautiful, peaceful place at the coast to forgo the motels and camp or rent a cabin at the KOA here. We are not campers, but they have very cute and cozy cabins to rent for about $55/day. Beats a motel cost big time! The owners are fairly new and very very helpful- our car broke down on the trip, and the owner was very helpful, on not one but several occasions. Very patient! The campground itself is not real large- only about 5 acres, but feels much bigger, with all the wooded areas, the wooded parts are filled with amazing huge Redwood trees with paths winding through. This place is great to play hide and seek in with your kids! The cabins are one or two room, and have no bathrooms or kitchen, the campground has 3 restrooms with big dish washing sinks outside, spread throughout, and they are kept clean. A very few of the cabins have porch swings. The main highway is right there, but you never hear or see it. Nearby is a nostalgic drive-in movie, the first my kids had ever been to. And check out Ocean World in Crescent City. The KOA has a fun playground, a dog run area, (our dog LOVES this place!) even a farm animal area with chickens etc. There are bikes to rent, and family movie nights, pancake breakfasts and ice cream socials on certain days in the summer. All of us consider this one of our favorite places. Enjoy!

Very nice grampground. We spent 2 nights on a weekend here. Well kept, seemed to be alot of works, each very busy with keeping the grounds clean and the campers happy. Watch closely as there is no sign on the hwy. so you may pass it quick. Staff are both happy & helpful. Laundry rooms & bathrooms are roomy & clean. The cabins are in nice secluded spots with tall trees. My boys loved playing in the playground & renting the banana bikes ($5/half hr). No pool here. While in the area we went to the Mystery Trees, Ocean World & Jedediah State Park.
I would recommend this campground to everyone, great location & when you go on their website to book they had a "HOT DEAL" button to press which gave us a deal of 'stay two nights and get the second night for 45% off'!! great savings....also found the gift store had some great deals (same shells as Ocean World & cheaper!)

This was our first time staying in a KOA Kabin. We loved it. This is a very clean and well run KOA. The setting is beyond compare with a beautiful redwood grove right in the campground. Ask to have a cabin in the grove. RV sites looked very nice too. Clean bathrooms and good laundry and game facilities. The kids enjoyed renting the bikes. Lots of fun stuff to see in crescent city and in the various forests. Our kabin was clean and comfortable with two rooms it slept six. We had a nice swing and great campfire area making our spot ideal. Bring sheets and a blanket there are heaters lights and plugs in the cabins. Everything worked great! Another plus is that this campground seemed to be bear and critter free. We did not have to worry about food in our cabin or outside our cabin even. We will definitely be back!

After reading many reviews, we selected KOA Kabins for lodging during our visit to the Calif Redwoods. Very nice and clean , Managers there volunteered really good info about the highlights to visit in the parks and trails. Kabin included space heaters, vinal pads for the beds and bunks and indoor/outdoor patio chairs, picnic table and fire pit. Facilities also included a nice game room with ping pong, foos ball and several video games. Showers and restroom were clean and always provided hot water. This was a good alternative to actual camping by tent. We considered driving our RV around the parks, a wise decision to travel by car. Most of the roads are narrow and winding. We would have missed out on a lot,

My husband and I stayed here for a night in Sept. while driving HWY 101. We did not have reservations, but stopped in to see what they had available. We did not know if this was a great place, but just needed a place to stop and camp for the night & take a shower! We were very pleasantly surprised. The tent site we stayed at was under the redwoods and very secluded from other campers. It seemed more like we were camping in the middle of the forest than in a campground. We arrived just before dark, but under the canopy of the trees it was much darker and we got that wonderful, almost eery quietness that only the redwoods provides. There were kids riding bikes and families walking the paths, absolutely no problems with noise. The bathroom/shower room was very clean and there was a very short wait time for the shower. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great stay!
