ONE STATEMENT SUMMARY

Spectacular view, very reasonable price and superb service...

REVIEW

The Ocean Front Lodge is an experience one must have. The hotel is privately owned and the entire staff goes beyond the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant and memorable experience.

The initial contact with the front desk when calling for information set the stage for a delightful stay.

The ocean views are spectacular and leave you wanting to either extend your stay or return as soon as possible.

The Resturant servce is outstanding and the cuisine reflects the region. The Chef is excellent and works hard to make each guest feel like they are family.

The location is remarkable. There are inspirational natural sights to see. The Redwoods are legendary.

The owner of the hotel is a uniquely wonderful and hardworking entrepreneur. She leads by example.

In all candor, we feel honored to have both meet all of the management and staff and to have been able to stay at this amazing hotel.

Stayed here just for one night while driving down the coast. We had a double queen room with a balcony for $159, looking over the lighthouse and coastline. It was beautiful!
The staff were great and very friendly and helpful, and the amenities were all very good; they had laundry, pool, fitness centre, shop etc etc.
What let it down for me, was the fact the rooms felt a little...shabby, especially for the price. The light shades were dirty, the hole for the sprinkler was cut out and was just a large, uneven and unprofessional hole in the ceiling (see photo), there were ants in the bathroom, stains on the sofa etc. It was a pity, as I did enjoy the location and the amenities as I said, but just disappointed with the quality.
I wouldn't not recommend this place, as it may have just been my room, but just use caution.

We made our reservations in advance, I read the reviews and felt it was well worth the trip. We checked in and were met with a very nice reception. We stayed in the mini suite because we had our three grandkids with us ages 13 to 10. The room was clean and plenty enough room for the 5 of us. The view was beautiful, couldn't of asked for better. We had a wonderful time in the swimming pool, sauna and hot tub, the excercise room was great too. We couldn't find one thing to complain about so I'm guessing that some of the reviews we read compaining about this and that well they just look for anything to complain about. Thank you we had a great stay and the kids really enjoyed themselves. The Walden's From Northern California.

away from route 101 noise, on the beach, rocks all around and a decent breakfast included. So glad we stopped here, the sunset view was gorgeous from our room! i took a walk on the rocky beach right outside the restaurant. And the front desk told me where to see all the sea lions, so close by! simple, nothing fancy about this place except the location.

Room Tip: facing the sunset

This place has moldy rooms and bathrooms..they also don't clean their pool, every time we've been their its been green, nasty and smells like algae...the food at the restaurant is nasty and the price is way to high..the waitress who took our order didn't know what she was doing and she also smelled really bad..one of the cooks looked like he should be in prison and another worker at the bar would drink in front of his guests and gave really bad service...he was wearing regular street clothes...don't believe them when they say the seafood is fresh because its not it's all frozen...it will be the last time we ever come here because the service and the food was nasty..so people do not go to this hotel

This is the only hotel to stay in Crescent City for a number of reasons: it has been remodeled, fabulous staff, owners are visible on the property, it is a few steps from the bluffs and beaches and the lighthouse. It has a pool, sauna, exercise room and totally reimagined restaurant with Asian fusion + fish menu. The new owners from San Francisco (via Hong Kong and London and Scotland) have invested significantly into the property and are committed to innovation and serving the guests. The registration staff bent over backwards to meet the need of 9 busy people presenting a conference. They knew everyone in town, made special arrangements for us, and got things done. I look forward to traveling to Crescent City soon and staying here and walking along the beach. It is open, relaxing, with verandas to sit on and watch the sunset.

Room Tip: Ask for third floor rooms on the ocean side-- they come with veranda and chairs.

We picked this lodge by accident & read some bad reviews prior to our arrival-HOWEVER, we were greeted with smiles, allowed an early checkin, had an amazing lunch, both the waitress & the owner asking for critique on room & food. Breakfast was on the high end for "continental" & again the owner was right there asking for suggestions and if we were comfortable. Rooms were clean, spacious-views were breathtaking & even saw whales ! Understand this is a new undertaking for current owners but know that I am hard to satisfy (after being in the hospitality business for 30+ years)and they worked hard to make us happy.
