We stayed one night, arriving late afternoon, overnight, then out the next morning. Room was average, and clean. View was great, in fact, the front desk moved us to a room with a better view than the one we'd booked. Well appreciated!

We originally booked our room for two nights. While the view was great, we could hear through the ceiling, where we could easily hear the jacuzzi tub jets, the tub draining, etc. There was only one night stand on one side of the bed and was filthy underneath. The private balcony is not very private and would be easy to get into the room next door. The deadbolt was broken on the main door. We ate at the restaurant, but they were completely out of all shrimp except for the appetizer (fried shrimp). My husband ordered a shrimp/salmon combo, but asked to substitute the salmon for extra shrimp. He got six shrimp (medium size) and we were charged $30! Overall the service in the restaurant was not good, nor the food. Here's the finale, because of all this we decided to check out early. I was told there would be no penalty because we had spent one night. In a couple days when I checked my credit card statement, we were charged for two night PLUS an additional night. I have sent repeated e-mails and made calls but have yet (almost 3 weeks later) to get reimbursed for the overcharge, plus no one has responded to either my e-mail or called back.

Room Tip: Don't stay here. Choose a room in Trinadad (to the south) or Brookings (to the north)

ONE STATEMENT SUMMARY

Spectacular view, very reasonable price and superb service...

REVIEW

The Ocean Front Lodge is an experience one must have. The hotel is privately owned and the entire staff goes beyond the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant and memorable experience.

The initial contact with the front desk when calling for information set the stage for a delightful stay.

The ocean views are spectacular and leave you wanting to either extend your stay or return as soon as possible.

The Resturant servce is outstanding and the cuisine reflects the region. The Chef is excellent and works hard to make each guest feel like they are family.

The location is remarkable. There are inspirational natural sights to see. The Redwoods are legendary.

The owner of the hotel is a uniquely wonderful and hardworking entrepreneur. She leads by example.

In all candor, we feel honored to have both meet all of the management and staff and to have been able to stay at this amazing hotel.

Stayed here just for one night while driving down the coast. We had a double queen room with a balcony for $159, looking over the lighthouse and coastline. It was beautiful!
The staff were great and very friendly and helpful, and the amenities were all very good; they had laundry, pool, fitness centre, shop etc etc.
What let it down for me, was the fact the rooms felt a little...shabby, especially for the price. The light shades were dirty, the hole for the sprinkler was cut out and was just a large, uneven and unprofessional hole in the ceiling (see photo), there were ants in the bathroom, stains on the sofa etc. It was a pity, as I did enjoy the location and the amenities as I said, but just disappointed with the quality.
I wouldn't not recommend this place, as it may have just been my room, but just use caution.

We made our reservations in advance, I read the reviews and felt it was well worth the trip. We checked in and were met with a very nice reception. We stayed in the mini suite because we had our three grandkids with us ages 13 to 10. The room was clean and plenty enough room for the 5 of us. The view was beautiful, couldn't of asked for better. We had a wonderful time in the swimming pool, sauna and hot tub, the excercise room was great too. We couldn't find one thing to complain about so I'm guessing that some of the reviews we read compaining about this and that well they just look for anything to complain about. Thank you we had a great stay and the kids really enjoyed themselves. The Walden's From Northern California.

away from route 101 noise, on the beach, rocks all around and a decent breakfast included. So glad we stopped here, the sunset view was gorgeous from our room! i took a walk on the rocky beach right outside the restaurant. And the front desk told me where to see all the sea lions, so close by! simple, nothing fancy about this place except the location.

Room Tip: facing the sunset

This place has moldy rooms and bathrooms..they also don't clean their pool, every time we've been their its been green, nasty and smells like algae...the food at the restaurant is nasty and the price is way to high..the waitress who took our order didn't know what she was doing and she also smelled really bad..one of the cooks looked like he should be in prison and another worker at the bar would drink in front of his guests and gave really bad service...he was wearing regular street clothes...don't believe them when they say the seafood is fresh because its not it's all frozen...it will be the last time we ever come here because the service and the food was nasty..so people do not go to this hotel
