“Peaceful, relaxing retreat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013

This was such a wonderful and relaxing place to getaway! We enjoyed walking the path around the lake whilst enjoying the views and the wonderful weather, walking/shopping/lunch around the town (the Indian place is great!), hiking RMNP and enjoying spa services.

Room
As the other reviews mentioned, the hotel rooms are not uber-luxurious, but more rustic and charming, yet still nicely updated! We did not have any issues with noise. The room was somewhat secluded with a fantastic view of the lake, mountains and elk that we enjoyed from the balcony with a cocktail! The separate living room and bedroom made it feel more like a home rather than a generic hotel room. We highly recommend room 302 on the top floor, if you can splurge!

Restaurant/Bar
The restaurant was great. We ate dinner here twice and both meals were quite delicious! The scallop dish with black beans, although unusual, was very yummy! It’s true, it’s more on the expensive side, but convenient when staying at the resort…and the lake view is a bonus. Jimmy, our bartender, was especially great! He was very welcoming and attentive!

Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we’d go back again!

We stayed 2 nights at Estes Park Resort in late July for a mini class reunion. The resort is a great place for a gathering; we spent many hours in the restaurant/bar, in smaller groups near the fireplace, and on the great deck that stretches across the back overlooking Lake Estes. It's located outside the center of town, so if you want to eat at local restaurants and do some shopping, a car trip would be required. However, we just wanted to visit and take it easy. We did rent a couple of pontoon boats from the marina next door, and that was a lot of fun.

We had a king room with lakeside view. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The bed and pillows were excellent. I would prefer private balconies, but it was nice to be able to sit outside. We were at the end of the hall on the main floor, and it was very quiet, although when there were people in the connecting room, we could pretty easily hear their television and talking.

The staff in the bar and restaurant were excellent, especially serving a group of 17. James, one of the bartenders, was particularly accommodating. Food in the restaurant was quite good with an interesting menu, an improvement over our previous visit a few years ago.

We just had the pleasure of an extended weekend at the Resort to attend a friends wedding...Couldn't have been more pleased with the staff, the room and the location. As someone said in another review the room was a little dark. We loved the location with the short drive into town and the beautiful, just breathtaking views! We had breakfast on the deck of the Waterfront Grille. It was wonderful! On Saturday evening we attended a wedding and the food was once again spectacular and the staff exceptional. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a great location in Estes Park.

Beautifully located on Estes Lake. Close, but not walking distance, to shopping and restaurants. The rooms were large, the bedding comfortable. Our room was dark as it only had one small window and the lighting wasn't good. The deck overlooking the lake was great to enjoy dinner and lunch which we did both. The onsite restaurant had a great BLT for lunch! The dinner menu was just ok. The indoor pool was very cold, the whirlpool barely fit 4 adults and was lukewarm. The water level barely covered our knees. Not sure what the problem was. But overall, it was an ok place to stay. I am sure other hotels in the area are a bit cheaper. Our last day there, we walked out the door to pack up the car and 14 Elk were roaming the grounds. They were grazing within 10 feet of us so we got some great photos! So close that you could see the velvet on the antlers of the males. That was amazing!!

Room Tip: Rooms offering a lake view with a balcony are best. Corner rooms have a very little window and make...

We stayed here one night. The room itself was nice - clean and spacious. We were on the garden level and we found out after the fact that those rooms do not have AC. We should have been told this at check in but luckily it wasn't too hot so we managed. The game room was nice for the kids. Exercise room was nice and I used it a couple of times while there. Pool looked nice but we did not use it. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

We were married at the resort and it was just an awesome experience start to finish. They took care of every detail and the guests just could not say enough great things about it. We are a blended family and we had a family ceremony that included three children aged 5, 9 & 10. The staff really included them and made them all feel special which is exactly what we were hoping for. This was not a traditional wedding ceremony and the staff tracked right along with what we wanted and made it into the perfect day for us. The property was very clean, the food was great and there were lots of nice places to take pictures. It was not cheap but it was not outrageous either. They built us a custom menu and were so attentive during our ceremony and reception. We had some odd requests and they met them all even though they would not have had to. I would recommend this property to anyone for it's hospitality, beauty, cleanliness and comfort.

Hello Amy,

First of all - Thank you so very much for selecting our property to be your event hosts - on this very special day. We know you have many options for mountain wedding in Colorado, especially in Estes Park; so it means so much to us that you granted us the honor of being your venue!

I am very pleased to hear we exceeded your expectations! We take great pride in ensuring every event is extremely memorable - and want to make sure that we do meet "special requests" whenever physically possible. Our internal motto is that if we can't do something for a guest - no one in town better be able to do it either!

Thank you again for being our guest, allowing us to host your event, and for taking the time to share your experience here for others to read about. I hope you can join us again someday in the future!

Congratulations!

My husband and I decided to vacation out in Colorado this summer. My husband is all about value and I'm all about luxury. As a compromise on vacation, we stayed at two "value" hotels and I selected The Estes Park Report as my "luxury" hotel. I was disappointed that I selected this hotel. I was looking for a beautiful resort located in a secluded part of Estes, impeccable customer service and to be treated like royalty - after all we were staying at a resort! The resort is located in town and overlooks a lake - but there is housing and whatnot surrounding the lake; and no it’s not luxury housing. When we interacted with the staff they were nice. In fact, when we asked to check-in early the front desk receptionist was very accommodating (we checked in at 8:00 a.m.). We had a first floor room - which was okay. The bed was soft and big – which we very much appreciated but that was all that we really liked about the hotel. Our view was of two boxwood bushes. We had a flat-screen TV but it wasn't HD - and we didn't even get NBC sports to watch the Tour! We could hear our neighbors every night. So, overall it was just okay and definitely not worth the price. Our "value" hotels provided more amenities, free breakfasts, prime locals and were easy on our wallets; whereas, The Estes Park Report just didn't. I would recommend saving your money, stay in Boulder or Fort Collins and take a day trip to Estes Park if you want to get into Rocky Mountain National Park.

Room Tip: Just don't stay in Estes Park. Save your money. Stay in Fort Collins or Boulder and take day tri...
