We visited the Dunraven in March and enjoyed it so had to return on our trip last week. Once again the food was fresh and delicious, the service excellent and our experience very nice. The pasta was rich, creamy and wonderful. We like the garlic bread in the foil. It was fresh bread, perfectly toasted and seasoned. I've never been to Rome, but I do like the food here. The house Lambrusco wine was very good. If you like good Italian food, great service and nice ambience, try the Dunraven Inn.

We have dined at the Dunraven in Estes Park several times. The staff is always friendly and very professional. The atmosphere is quaint and relaxing. The food is very well prepared. We usually have the lasagne and the pesto which are always delicious. We try to enjoy the Dunraven every time we are in Estes.

When one reads the advertisments that claim, "The Dunraven Inn Restaurant offers fine Italian dining..." and "We serve great steaks, traditional Italian favorites, pasta..." and arrives to a sign above the front door that claims the restaurant is the "Rome of the Rockies," expectations are set which were far from being met unless you have never experienced fine Italian dining or been to Rome. Having experienced fine Italian dining here in America and having been to Rome our observations of the differences follow: for starters there were no table linens at the Dunraven Inn Restaurant ("Dunraven") whereas there are fine quality table linens in fine Italian restaurants in America and Rome, there was no olive oil in use at the Dunraven, however, nearly every fine Italian dining restaurant in America and every Ristorante in Rome uses olive oil, nor was anyone from Italy employed at the Dunraven. This might explain the fact that the Dunraven staff didn't respond to grazie with prego, the tasteless stale garlic bread wrapped in aluminum foil served at the Dunraven as oposed to the delicious fresh Italian bread served in nearly every fine Italian dining restaurant in America and Rome, the pepper in a shaker at the Dunraven that is fresh ground when served in nearly every fine Italian dining restaurant in America and Rome, the heavy tomato "meat sauce" at the Dunraven was in stark contrast to the indescribably delicious sauces served in Rome, the tough thick "veal" smothered in what the Dunraven called "mozzerella cheese," the "Italian steak" at the Dunraven that gave my guest heart burn so bad it was a sleepless night, and the Dunraven waitress who did not so much as inquire as to whether everything was satisfactory and whose attention we could not get to let her know we were not satisfied. Further, she dropped the $65.00 check off without waiting even a brief moment to hear our attempt to inform her of our disappointment. In short, we would recommend those visiting Estes Park opt for a restaurant that simply serves good food and avoid the Dunraven! Spend your savings on some of the shops downtown who will appreciate your business. You can also avoid an accident given that the Dunraven parking is directly on the highway!

When in Estes Park we try this place. It was good five years ago, not anymore the last three or so visits have been very disappointing. Soggy salad too much Balsamic dressing, Italian dinners are straight out of a can, fish limited and expensive, scallops are more of a stew than pan seared, polenta is too thick and not crispy, the current trend and finally this place is very seventies and needs to update the menu. We think the management is tired.
