“There is "some place" like home”

Seasoned travelers stayed 8 days while visiting Estes Park area. All aspects of the property exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a room with kitchenette which was a major plus.. September is wonderful Elk watching time in RMNP and Estes Park, like, right out your back door of the hotel. Caution: Bull Elk are aggressive during rut so keep your distance.. The beds were comfy, room spotless, big screen TV, WIFI was excellent, grills spotless, hot tub spotless, swimming pool spotless and I could go on and on. Oh, also went to a Broncos game (football) and Rockies game (baseball). Drove to Longmont, CO and got on RTD (bus) and they dropped us off at the door step of both stadiums. The exit (from games) back to Longmont park n' ride was a breeze. Highly recommend RTD to get you into and out of the city. The owners, Wes and Barbara are two of the nicest people I've ever met. When my wife checked in Barbara gave her two bottles of water and said, "drinks lots of water until you get adjusted to altitude". We hiked all over in RMNP. Had a blast and hated to leave but will return. Hey folks, look no further than this place if you want to feel like your at home.

Room Tip: We are fans of room 22 with the kitchenette and two queen beds.

The room was spotless and was thoroughly neatened up daily. We were upgraded to a larger room with a full kitchen-very thoughtful of the woman running the hotel. She was able to provide knowledge on the local restaurants that was valuable and was a great source on hikes/parks/etc. The bed was comfortable, the AC strong, bathroom spotless, huge flat screen TV and the wifi was strong. Could not ask for more and I would absolutely stay here again.

This is a great family motel, great beds, super clean and the friendliest owner who cares about their business because they run it so well.

Room Tip: there is no special tip, I am sure everyone is treated the same

My sister found this on the internet for us. Barbara was great when we called to visit. The hotel room was large - had fridge and microwave in it. The tv was good sized as well. We agree with a prior comment - the towels are better than in many hotels 2 and 3 times the price - plush and absorbent. We would go back in a minute and stay here. Walls were not too thin - there was a family with 4 kids in the room next to us and we never heard them.

Barbara was also very helpful about recommending places to eat when asked. We ate at two places and really enjoyed both of them.

Thanks so much for a great couple of days.

Room Tip: Talk to Barbara about what you need - she is great to work with and will help all she can.

I spent six nights on a solo hiking trip at the Saddle & Surrey and was quite pleased. The accomodations were a great value, the room large, comfortable & clean and the pool & hot tub were a welcome relief after a day of hiking in the park. The Saddle & Surrey is a throwback to the old style motels before the emergence of the large chains. It is family run; friendly and welcoming. Being out of downtown Estes Park cut down on the traffic noise, but keeps you close to the park entrances and hiking trails. The couple in the room next to me have returned annually for over 20 years!
S & S is a solid, well maintained motel with nice amenities (flat screen TV, pool & hot tub) that leaves you with a little extra in your wallet to enjoy some of the area's restaurants and shopping.

One can never be sure about something even after having read numerous reviews. You can still have a bad experience. That was not the case with the Saddle and Surrey motel. Since it was not a multi-level motel, the rooms were easy to access and you could park right in front of your room. The rooms were clean and attractive. Even though we were able to use the pool only once it was also clean and well kept. Barbara was very pleasant and helpful from check-in to check-out (we stayed three days). This motel was also one of the most reasonably priced in Estes. It is not a luxury hotel but the owners do not promote it that way. They simply provide a clean and enjoyable facility at a reasonable cost. I want to thank them for such a pleasant stay. We will be back.

For an average, bare bones gateway to the rockies, this is ok. The rooms are adjacent to a road with surges of traffic, lessening in roar after midnight. Breakfast also very bare bones. One plus, comfortable egyptian cotton sheets.
