I originally had booked the Saddle and Surrey Motel for a Sunday night stay. We enjoyed the motel and Rocky Mountain National Park so much, that we decided to extend our stay to Monday night also. We had to give up a non-refundable room at the Denver West Marriott to do this on Monday. That should give you an idea of how impressed we were with the motel and area.
We were charged with a AAA rate of $80 per night. This motel had some of the nicest owners we've encountered in all our travels. Our king room had a very home-like feel to it. We loved the wooden decor in the room, from the panels to the furniture. Best of all it was spotless. The room included a refrigerator, microwave and complimentary internet. The motel is just outside of town, so we found it very quiet in the evening. If needed, the room is equipped with a large air conditioner for warm evenings.
Outside the room the motel included: a continental breakfast, picnic area with grills, pool, hut tub and playground for kids. Parking is convenient, one can pull right up to their door. The office had plenty of information about the area. Our friendly hosts knew we were hiking, so they provided us with a neat little trail guide for the park.
Just as a comparison, we drove by the Holiday Inn and it looked so out of place in this beautiful town. I'm glad I ignored Priceline for Estes Park and booked directly with the Saddle and Surrey Motel. The Tripadvisor reviews were right on.
