Perfect location between Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Western decor. Nice bed, nice towels, nice shower. Clean and comfortable. Be sure to ask for hair dryer at the front desk. Free muffins and coffee for breakfast. Really great for us.

We stayed in one of the cabins,it was very clean and in a peaceful uncrowded setting. The pool was nice and close by. The restaurant had both great food and great service.Fall Creek literally flows right through this resort and our dinner table was just a fer feet from this pristine stream. You will not be disappointed if you stay here.

My husband and I stayed here two nights this past week and found Nicky's to be a very comfortable experience. Our "river suite" room was extremely clean and comfy. We had everything we needed including our choice of outdoor sitting areas to enjoy the river or mountain view. We ate breakfast by the river at the restaurant and thought the value and the service were exceptional. The management of the resort does ask guests to follow some basic guidelines on the property but they are really just common courtesies. We appreciated them as they made the resort more serene and inviting for discriminating visitors. Thank you for the great RMNP experience, Nicky's!

Ok large clean comfortable room with 1 king bed, although a little dark. The air con system was very noisy, the room also had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom was quite small but ok. Locations was good as it was very close to Rocky Mountains National Park, although to walk into town it will take you about 20 minutes so we chose to drive. The restaurant on site was very expensive for an evening meal. Breakfast was very basic, started early @ 7.00am but did not have a good selection at all, just pre-packed muffins, breakfast bars and simple cereal in indivual boxes, not the freshes and one that you would just grab and go. Another downside is that all the cutlery, bowls and plates were plastic but since spending the last 2 weeks travelling around this is very common. The parking on site is very tight especially if it was busy. Overall an ok place but one that i would probably not return to.

Room Tip: A downstairs room is easier and has better parking.

My friend and I had a 3-night stay here, and enjoyed it. I like older, quaint places, and I believe all rooms are updated now. Rooms are a little small, but we felt that it was very good value, and knew we would not be in room that much. Very handy to downtown and to the RM Nat'l Park; manager on duty helpful in showing us places to eat (on map), and recommending "out of the way" places in town. Beds were comfortable, room very clean. Cleaning staff also very friendly young lady.

Stayed in Mid-October. Enjoyed a beautiful 1st snowfall of the season. Very cute rustic decor. The room was pretty small but fine for relaxing and sleeping. Bathroom was very tiny. Not much of a view except of the parking lot from the main hotel. Within a few miles of RMNP entrance. Probably most annoying besides the parking and lack of view was that our fitted (or non-fitted?) sheets came off the bed every night. Would return as a couple in the future if on a limited budget.

I definitely have mixed feelings about this place. My mother and I stayed here in April, during the off season, so we expected it to be quiet and more relaxing than during the summer. Was it quiet? You bet. Relaxing? Not so sure.
My mom had stayed at this place before, and she liked it, so we gave it a try. However, there are several glaring indicators that Nicky's is past its prime.
While the overall location is good, the place itself is a bit cluttered and small, and the rooms are smaller than you would expect. The bathroom windows are old, plastic, and difficult to open or keep open, and the bathroom itself is so small it is nearly impossible to move around in. The shower was less than two feet wide.
The manager was courteous and answered all our questions helpfully, but didn't make contact with us outside of answering our questions. The maid was inattentive as well, not emptying our trash can or providing us with more bath soap and coffee packets.
The biggest problem I have with Nicky's, however, is the beds. They put PLASTIC BAGS over all their beds, trying to prevent bed bugs. However, this makes the beds truly unbearable to sleep in. I read the other reviews on TripAdvisor about the beds, and I felt that the customers were simply complaining and being picky; I was mistaken. It is simply impossible to sleep on these coarse, crinkly, sandpaper-like beds, mostly because they put only a thin sheet over said bags, jokingly dubbed "Nicky Bags" by my mom and I.
The good? They still have a very nice restaurant, and their grounds have a beautiful view of a bubbling river. You can walk down a little hill, surrounded by greenery and nature, and watch the river, or you can eat at the restaurant, outside in the pavilion beside the river.
I liked the fact that there was a balcony outside our back door that featured stairs to walk down to the main office. The balcony has chairs and benches, but unfortunately it winds around to include with every room on the top level, so anyone walking around out there has a nice view of your room (Unless, of course, you close the blinds.)
I recognize Nicky's has a lot of history and all that, but it just doesn't work in this day and age. They're trying to market a 1960s establishment to a 2012 world, and it's just not working out. I hope they work out their problems in the future, but until then, you may want to consider another place.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are quieter, but can be driven up to so you don't have to climb any stair...
