We just returned from a 12 day trip with another couple through Colorado and to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and Phoenix in Arizona. Our first stop was in Estes Park after flying into Denver and renting a car. What a way to start a trip. We had made reservations at Deer Crest after checking out many resorts on computer. The pictures and other reviews were right on. Pictures shown on computer are just as the resort appears. Deer Crest is a quiet and peaceful little resort. Sitting by the river, visiting with our friends and hearing the water ripple over the rocks was perfect. The owner was helpful in discussing possible hikes in park. Very nice restaurant within easy walking distance if you don't want to head to town which is very close. Be advised that this is an older resort but was very clean and nicely decorated. If you are looking for a flashy upscale big city resort with lots of amenities you would probably not be happy at Deercrest. Actually though this was exactly the type of resort we had expected to find by the Rocky Mountain Natl. Park. Would definitely recommend this resort to anyone wanting a peaceful, lovely, outdoor setting in the Rockies.

My husband and I decided to take a quick trip to Estes Park for my birthday and I wanted to stay somewhere unusual. I searched the Internet and finally found "Deer Crest Resort" After talking to the owner, Ken. I decided this is just what we wanted.
Ken's description of his property was exactly as we found it to be.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and a bottle of wine for my birthday. I was surprised he remembered that from our conversation in making the reservation. Very thoughtful of them.

This was the cleanest room I have ever had and great hospitality.
We had a mini suite by the pool and it is just what my husband and I were looking for. Great patio and table for his breakfast coffee and we used the gas grill by the pool to grill steaks.
We decided to take an air conditioned room, just in case, for coming from Houston we did not want to take any chances of being in a warm room. We enjoyed sitting in the swing by the Fall River and just enjoying the quietness. The location of the room was just perfect for us.

What made me take a good look at the place was the "Adults Only" policy. Everyone was so friendly, there was always some one to talk to,

We will definitely return to "Deer Crest Resort" on our next trip to Estes Park.
See you soon,

We stayed at the Deer Crest Resort for 2 nights in July. Ken and Carrie are both very pleasant and helpful. The location of the resort was excellent - not right in town where the streets can become congested but close enough that you could actually walk the distance if you wanted to. Being right by the Fall River was great - very quiet and peaceful. If we ever are in Estes Park again - which we hope to be - we will definitely stay here again!

The Deercrest Resort exceeded our expectations. We were welcomed by the friendly owners, Carrie and Ken. Upon arrival, we were offered popcorn, hot chocolate, DVDs and books to borrow. We had room 209, an upstairs room which we thought was average sized, very clean, and simply, but nicely decorated. It had a refrigerator, microwave, one king bed, a small bathroom, new carpet, new bedding, and a private balcony with two very nice chairs and a table. We had a wonderful view of the river and waterfall that is part of the beautiful setting of the Deercrest. Most of the rooms face the lawns and river. Rooms 107, 108, and 109 are downstairs waterfall rooms. Rooms 207, 208, and 209 are upstairs rooms that face the waterfall. Besides one of the suites, the waterfall rooms are the only ones that have private balconies or patios. Most rooms have shared patios or baconies with very nice tables and chairs. A few of the rooms face the pool, but do not face the river. Both upstairs and downstairs rooms are accessible without having to climb stairs. There are chairs, swings, a barbecue, and tables on the lawn between the rooms and the river. In my opinion, this is not a fancy, nor luxurious resort. But, without a doubt, it is a very special place to relax and enjoy the surroundings because of the special owners, Carrie and Ken, who carefully and lovingly maintain and care for their property, and because of the beautiful setting along the Fall River.

Room was clean and neet, not opulent. Wonderful to be on the Fall River and very convenient to town. If you are looking for a resort, then it would be best to look elsewhere, but if you want a nice quite place, clean, comfortable and reasonably priced, this will work nicely.

The location of the chalet park is beautiful, alongside Fall River, just so peaceful and quiet. Our chalet was at lower level, so had its own verandah. This was good for sitting around, sipping our glass of wine, when we returned from our after dinner evening stroll.
The chalet was comfortable, but badly in need of an update, ie, carpets, bedding and furnishings. The bathroom was just adequate.
The site is run by the owners, who greeted us very warmly, friendly on our arrival. They were very nice.
We were just over-awed by the vistas in RMNP, absolutely stunning.
We hope to return some day. It has been some experience, and thankful to our friends making this trip possible.

We really enjoyed our stay at Deer Crest. Ken & Carrie are great hosts. We were in room 206 and would request it again. A good sized room, comfy bed, soft towels and loveseat double recliner to put our feet up on after hiking in RMNP. True, there could be more light at the sink, but that's true of most hotels as well as the shower head could be higher, but we always run into that problem too with my 6'4" husband!
There's a fridge and microwave in the room and a VCR/DVD.

The location is great and there's nothing like leaving the windows up and having the Fall River lull you to sleep! The grounds are pretty. There are grills and patio furniture/chaise lounges to sit on. We don't usually do hot tubs, but found it to be just the thing after a 9 mile hike in the park.

We walked to Nicky's Restaurant, which is nice (try the trout!), and on our way back, a bear ran across the road about 75 yards ahead of us. We were a bit freaked out, but then again it's pretty a pretty cool thing to see. He probably would have been as afraid as us as we were of him, but just to be safe, you might want to drive!

We love the fact that the resort is non-smoking adults only and will stay there again next time we head to RMNP!
