“A Great Week Spent @ the Coyote Mountain Lodge!”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

My sister and I stayed here for a week and had a fabulous time. The room was clean, replete with mini-fridge and microwave and coffee maker. Maid service superb and provided daily. Best of all, the office staff was always friendly and truly went above and beyond. Thanks to Roxie and Jen and the whole gang! The lobby was attractive, warm and friendly. Coffee and continental breakfast was provided every morning and I could check my email on the internet/computer that was also provided free of charge. Guitars are even provided if the spirit moves you! Look forward to returning for our next VaCa to the beautiful Rocky Mtn. NP!.

Room Tip: ALL the rooms looked good to me!

We chose the retro room, and were very pleased. Clean, no smell of cleaner or smoke, and quiet, even though it's right on the main drag. While they don't offer breakfast, they do have coffee, tea, and sometimes instant hot cereal and fruit.

Room Tip: The retro room had brand new carpet

the room was simple. as reviewed by others, the room was more outdated than pictured on coyote's website and other sites. the sheets (on both queen beds) had several small holes in them but i assumed they were clean. our room was tucked in the middle of the motel buildings (imagine an upside down "L" - our room was located at the innermost corner) so our view was of the parking lot and everyone could see directly into our room so we kept our curtains closed the whole time. there was a piece of pubic hair in the bathtub but i ran the tub and it went down the drain. the room smelled a little wet and musty. coyote is located next to several other hotels/motel and a lovely, short walk from the lake. the rate was fine for our stay as we didn't spend much time in the room.

I booked this place because of the price; my husband is on the frugal side and would probably be happy in one of those motels with a sign that hawks, "Color TV." Not me.

The room we were originally assigned to must have been one of those "retro" rooms. It was small and dark and depressing, but worst of all, it had a bedspread. Like camping in the outdoors and drinking cheap beer, hotel bedspreads and all their associated germs are a thing of the past for me.

Jake at the front desk graciously gave us the key to another room, which had been remodeled. Better, with double sheeted comforters, but still small and gloomy--even though it was certainly clean. We returned to Jake, who negotiated a deal for us on the 2-bedroom condo. "This is not like anything you've seen so far," he told us. He was right.

The condo was fantastic--huge! It was almost sinful for only two people. It was bright with picture windows and had a full kitchen and a dining room table that could seat six. One bedroom had a king bed with just a comforter; the other had a double-sheeted queen bed and seemed bigger. The bathroom was off that room, and everything was spotless. I was so happy in the condo, I didn't even complain that I couldn't figure out how to work the Direct TV.

I can't say enough about Jake. I'm sure I must have driven him nuts, but he was very patient and cordial. He even called us after we checked out to tell us Mr. Parsimonious left his travel bag in the bathroom and he was holding it for us. Plus he gave us a referral to the Molly B restaurant in town, where I had one of the Top 5 breakfasts of my life.

In sum, if you're like my husband and don't worry about germs, then you'd probably be happy with one of the remodeled rooms. But if you're fussy and have princess tendencies like me, only the condo will do. And if you and your spouse don't see eye to eye on your travel accommodations, well, there's a bedroom for each of you.

Room Tip: I wouldn't settle for anything other than the 2-bedroom condo.

We spent two nights in a clean, well-decorated room at the Coyote Mountain Lodge. We were out most of the day and appreciated the quick oatmeal and cereal bars in the morning and the hot tub after a day of snowshoeing in the mountains. Melinda was extremely willing to help - to call a restaurant to see if they had vegetarian soups on their menu, to ask prices on snowshoe rentals, and to give us directions. Her enthusiasm about Colorado was delightful. We would definitely stay there again.

This hotel looked really great from the website, almost too good to be true. Sure enough, that was the case. The rooms do not actually look like what they did in the picture, much more outdated. The views are not as shown in the pictures either. The hotel is located in the middle of about 10 other hotels outside of the village. Much better lodging options in the area.

I booked this hotel at the last minute for a weekend stay. It's a great spot as it's clean and comfortable. It's a short walk from the lake if you want to go for a run or walk around. It's also a quick drive into town and a perfect jump off point to get into the park. The staff is also really great.
