The room was clean, but very dated and we could see the light from the outside coming in all around the door, thank god it was summer. We were leery about the security of the room aas you could easily break in the flimsy and poorly fitted door and antique door chain that was the backup lock. WIFI works but is slow. No breakfast available. Staff was friendly. We thought it was costly for the quality, but it was one of the cheapest in this tourist town. We'd stay there again, if other better hotels are not available.

Room Tip: Ask for a remode;ed room.

Thank you for writing a review for us! We definitely pride ourselves on the quality of our staff and our ability to offer some of the lowest rates in Estes Park!
Coyote was an old and run down hotel before the owners purchased it two years ago, and we are steadily working on details like what you mentioned for each and every room. We take comments like yours into consideration when making upgrades. You might be happier with one of our newly renovated rooms if you choose to stay with us the next time you are in Estes Park. Thanks again for staying with us!

The rooms were very clean. Comfortable beds. Beautiful view. Easy walk to the lake from the hotel where you'll find a path that goes around the lake and into town. Great for walking or running. The front desk staff Jess & Roxy were very friendly and accommodating. I had several family members staying here, and we were all happy. I'd recommend this hotel.

Thank you for your wonderful review of our Lodge! We appreciate having such kind families as yours stay with us. We also appreciate that Lake Estes and the downtown area are so accessible to us. The town does a great job at maintaining the waterfront pathways. We look forward to having you and your family stay with us again!

The good: The man at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. He changed our accommodations so we could go to our room when we got there at 1:00 PM (an upgrade to a newly renovated room for the same price!). The room was very clean, as were the linens. The pool was toasty warm and also kept very clean. Close to the riverwalk and shuttle buses.
The so-so: The room was very small with a king bed in it. As a result, the TV and dorm sized refrigerator needed to be placed atop the dresser. There wasn't even room for a microwave so we had to walk to the lobby to use that one for our nighttime popcorn. Bathroom was so small it only fit a shower, sink and toilet (no bath for those who like to soak). Mattress was on the softer side but adequate. They had oatmeal and tea/coffee available in the lobby in the morning.
The bad: A/C was a very outdated small window unit and barely ran. In fact at night, it seemed like it heated our room rather than cooled it. Very noisy all night clunking and popping (sounds an A/C unit should NOT be making...usually they are a nice white noise). For someone who prefers sleeping at 63 degrees, this was closer to 83 degrees in a cramped room! At least I could open the small bathroom window to try and get some cool night air in (it didn't really help, but I tried!). Even after taking 2 sleeping pills I couldn't fall asleep it was so freaking hot! Wifi connection was hit and miss. Sometimes you got on, others times you couldn't. NO safety bolts on outside door, doors had key locks that anyone could get in, barely a latch lock at the top of an adjoining door to the next room (it had strangers in it but at least they were women), no safe in room. In winter there are old time gas heaters...not sure if they work or how noisy they are. Curtains are very thin and light comes through from the highway and pool lights on one side and the walkway on the other side at all hours of the night so if you like it dark, bring an eye mask!

Room Tip: Bring an eyemask if you prefer a dark room, bring earplugs for the noisy A/C, ask for a newly renovated room (less old stuff in them), bring a portable fan as the A/C really doesn't work well. I think the first floor rooms are built into a hillside so I think they would be darker and not get the highway/pool noise or lights.

Everything is outdated and worn, including the bed sheets. The walls are thin and the room is quite small. We ultimately decided not to stay overnight as there as the bed was so uncomfortable (I could feel the springs in my back and the bed sunk when I lied down on it) it wasn't even tolerable. We love finding a simple hotel room for a reasonable price, but this lodge lacks value.

If you are looking for a budget motel, I highly recommend paying $20-$40 more for the next step up- it's worth the money.

We were stopping over in Estes Park for one night on our way to the Grand Tetons. We weren't looking for anything Luxurious or Fancy. In fact we wanted something quaint and kitschy. Coyote Mt. Lodge was perfect. Reasonably priced. Wonderful views. The rooms were VERY Clean. Had great ammenities. The bathroom and showers were very nice. The beds were comfortable. Did I mention the views. The hotel is nesteled in the valley and you have beautiful views of mountains everywhere.

The Neighbors next to us were a little noisy in the morning and we could hear them through the walls. The pool looked a little small but we didnt go swimming.

It was perfect for what we needed I would definitely return for a night or two night stay.
