My husband and I and our boys went up to Estes park for a few days to hike and fish in the RMNP. Perfect location next to the park overlooking the mountains! Lots of wildlife to watch while sitting on your cabins porch! We stayed at the authentic columbine cabin unit 3 which had all the amenities we wanted super clean, comfy beds, spacious bathroom and of course awesome views and easy access to activities and restaurants! Owners were super friendly and wanted to make sure we had a great stay! We liked it so much we stayed an extra night and as luck would have it they had an available cabin #10 which was booked every night except that one!! Will be coming back to amberwood to fish spruce lake!

We enjoyed out stay at Amberwood very much. We arrived there in late July 2012 and stayed at the Columbine cabin. Our first night there we saw two huge elk grazing along the road right in front of the resort. They got spooked off by the bear that was nearby, who trotted across the street toward our cabin. We got our money’s worth from our Colorado vacation in the first two hours there.

Our cabin was just enough: our kids enjoyed the swing set and the ever-present chance of seeing wildlife on the property. My wife and I enjoyed the quiet and beautiful scenery of the surrounding area. The proprietors and staff were very accommodating and friendly, and the office had lots of books, board games, movies, regional information and promotional items.

If you’re looking for constant activities, amusements, games, scheduled events, etc., other resorts are better suited. If you’re looking to get away from the crowds, invent your own adventures on your own time, see lots of wildlife, and go into Rocky Mountain National Park anytime you want (being less than two miles away), you will enjoy Amberwood’s rustic charm as much as we did.

Room Tip: Columbine was recently upgraded. Granite kitchen and bathroom counters, bathroom shower and jacuzzi...

we stayed in the one of the smaller cabins for 2 nights. it was number 7 which i think is called candy tuft maybe... its super cute and basically has everything you need. this was the only cabin available when i made the reservation about three weeks prior to our stay. and it did have a full size bed only- this was hard for me to sleep on since i'm used to a bigger bed. the couch does pull out though. dishes, utensils, pots, etc. are all available for your use. the cabin was very clean when we arrived. we also got a new picnic table delivered when we were there and we were told grills were just that day allowed to be used. they will give you new towels daily if you want them. they do want you do do dishes up before you leave - parking was a little tight, but adequate overall. amberwood is a pretty short drive to the park and also to town, which made it a good location. i recommend this place, it really was cute and i wished we could have stayed longer.

My family and I stayed here when I was younger and I have now been able to return as an adult with my husband and members of his family. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Estes Park because Amberwood is perfect. I love the quick access to Rocky Mountain National Park. The cabins are comfortable and the setting is beautiful. When staying at a hotel, I can't wait to get out of the room but at Amberwood, you are free to relax in the cabin. You don't have to worry about getting out for the cleaning staff. Everyone at Amberwood is so accommodating. We loved being able to have breakfast in the cabin before we left for the day and if we had wanted to cook, we would have had the ability to do that as well. You would be crazy to stay anywhere else but book early because as you can tell, this place is a popular treasure!

Room Tip: Each cabin is unique so choose one to fit your needs.

This room was completely remodeled and we were the first to stay in it. A spa was added in one corner and worked well. The shower was very nicely tiled with a river rock floor and double overhead shower heads and worked well. The other ammenities were nice including a king bed and rock fireplace. The owner was very nice to us and made sure we had what we needed. We stayed there ten days and prepared many of our meals. There was very little table space for eating.

Room Tip: Amberwood is only three miles from Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park which made it...

We had a great time in their mountain home. It has two queen bedrooms, and a loft with two larger beds. Nice place. Nice people. Good time. It has a full kitchen and a nice living area. Sitting on the porch watching the deer amble by was great.

We had a family reunion in Estes Park and stayed in the Grand Lodge of Amberwood. My side of the family had 16 people ranging in age from 1 to 65 and we had plenty of rooms. Everyone was comfortable. The Grand Lodge had absolutely everything we needed from high chairs to a kitchen stocked with every type of pot and pan imaginable. Several other family members stayed in surrounding cabins and we were able to meet in the spacious Grand Lodge and cook and dine together as a group of over 30 with plenty of tables, chairs, plates, cups, silverware, etc. The pool table in the meeting area was a hit with just about everyone. I really can't say enough about this place. They have it all - recycling, a fireplace with stocked wood, heat and air, Wifi and televisions with plenty of cable channels. There was even a DVD player so we were able to watch a DVD someone had made from old family movies. Despite the rain, we had a fantastic reunion in large part because we had chosen such a fantastic hotel. (Oh, and the price is definitely right!)
