“2nd Visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2009

We just returned from our 2nd visit to Misty Mountain Lodge. We had a great time. Our first visit was 2 years ago. We were in cabin 14 and the cabin could not have been any cleaner. We wished that the grounds would have been more tity and cleaner, but out cabin was spotless inside. The lodge sits between the river and a scenic rock face. It has the perfect location for access to restuarantes, shopping and the provies quick access to the park. I hope the new owners will continue to work on the property. Over all I would rate the property very highly. Estes Park is fun and relaxing place to visit.

We walked to many good restaurants and fun shops in the downtown area. We were close to the sky lift, jeep tours, and other activities. In the evenings, we relaxed by the stream or visited with others on the lawn. The lodge was clean and the owners were helpful.

Misty Mountain Lodge was one of several places our family considered when we decided to visit Estes Park. The owners were helpful on the phone and offered suggestions for which room would be appropriate for our family. After calling around, we decided that this place was the best deal for the money. We were not disappointed.

Our first impression was that the location was easy to find and close to all the downtown activities. We stayed in a suite (Room 8.) The room was homey and clean with a cabin feel. My sister and I were travelling with our three children and we found the suite to have plenty of room for all of us.

Room 8 was upstairs, which we knew in advance. The stairs were not bad to climb, but if a guest was disabled in some manner it would not be the room for them. The kitchen was clean and had most necessary utensils. The bathroom did not have much space to store toiletries, but was clean and functional. My largest problem with the room was the lack of outlets. There was one outlet attached to the light in the bathroom, which did not work with my blow dryer. I had to find another outlet to use, which entailed moving the dresser so that I could reach the plug-in. If you don't use a blow dryer or curling iron, then this would not be a problem, otherwise bring along a plug extender or surge protector for convenience.

The yard surrounding this place was a bit cluttered. There were activities for the guests, as well as miscellaneous stuff lying around. It was unorganized and not very neat. One of our children picked up and played with a toy that belonged to the owner's child and was scolded by one of the owners. It occured to me that perhaps the owners should not allow their children to leave toys lying around in the public area. I think the situation could have been avoided if they kept the yard a bit neater. It was the one thing that annoyed me about our stay.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Misty Mountain Lodge. The room was clean and comfortable. The owners responded immediately to any of our requests. There were games for the kids to check out and there were outdoor games for guests to play. The outdoor seating was shaded and had a beautiful mountain view. We could walk to downtown, as well as to the tram up the mountain. My visit to this place was largely positive and I would return again.

Nice lodge near downtown, so plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The garden looks nice and have several relaxing chairs although it looks a little bit messy. Lot of building materials are laying around.

The rooms are clean and have a good bed. We had room number 1 which is next to the road and not really big, but good enough for us.

After searching for hours for somewhere affordable and nice to stay in Estes Park on memorial day weekend, the best deal always came back to being the Misty Mountain Lodge.

Not only did I find it to be the most affordable of all the other lodges in Estes Park (including the surrounding hotels in most cases), after walking around there really didn't seem to be a better location then this lodge. In addition to the affordability and location, the owners who run the Misty Mountain Lodge were extremely helpful and hospitable. I have traveled to a number of places with family and stayed in nice hotel rooms in the Adirondacks, Florida, Hawaii, Maine, South Carolina, Vermont and more, and I can easily say that my favorite place I have stayed out of all of them was the Misty Mountain Lodge.

Some activities to do near the lodge that we found fun were....
- Rocky Mountain National Park- entrance 5 minute drive
- 2 Wineries within a 5 minute walk, and also a Brewery (Don't have to worry about a designated driver!)
- A fun park with two mini golf courses, about a 10 minute walk
- the main street in Estes with all of the shops, 5 minute walk
- Stanley Hotel Ghost Tour (book way ahead and make sure to avoid weddings, otherwise you miss out on seeing a lot of rooms.....like all of them) 5 minute drive- park in the back on the left, it gets pretty crowded in the front.

Just an additional note, The room was very clean and very spacious, it was more like renting a lodge style apartment then a room.

If you are looking to stay in Estes Park, definitely check out the Mountain Lodge, you will be very happy that you did!

This is the third time we have stayed at Misty Mountain Lodge. We book a couple of rooms for a couple of nights to stay and view the Parade of Lights on the Friday night after Thanksgiving. It is 2 blocks from the parade route. This way you don't have to find a place to park in town but leave the car at the MML and walk to the parade. The new owners are wonderful and took care of our every need. If any one is disapointed in the property they must live with a negitive attitude. We enjoyed the fire place in our cabin. We even thought we were camping as we cooked hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire. This is an older property but everything is clean and useable. The kitchen is well stocked with useable dishes, pots and pans and silverware. There is a toaster, microwave, gas stove and many other items for the guests to use. The only disapointment this year was there were no elk camped out in the front yard when we got up each morning.

We stayed for a week at the end of September and it was wonderful. The suite was very clean the views from the property were fantastic. Management went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. There are no phones in the rooms, but there is a phone available outside the office if you need it. They don't bother you with daily housekeeping and you take your own towels over to swap them, so if you want someone knocking at the door all the time, this isn't the place for you. We stayed in unit 16 which sleeps 4 and has 2 bathrooms, which was great. The kitchenette needed a little more silverware, but other than that it was great. There was also a grill outside that we used one night. Overall, it was a very relaxing vacation.

  • Liked — family oriented, no partying etc.
  • Disliked — not enough silverware
