We spent two nights at Dripping Springs, in the Oso cabin, on October 12th & 13th 2007.
The cabin is clean and comfortable. The bear theme is cute and we got quite a kick out of our dog (they allow pets on a limited basis) growling at one of the stuffed bears that was used in the decor.
One has to keep in mind that it is a CABIN, and therefore the amenities won't be comparable to the Ritz Carlton. It is budget priced, and I would have to say that you get a decent value for your dollar. We came here at a time of year when mice are looking for a warm winter haven, so the cabin did have mice. But we fight this in our own home this time of year too so it didn't concern us too much.
The location on the river is very nice, and the hot tub on the deck is great. The upstairs deck overlooking the river is also very nice in this cabin. It is reasonably private, but this particularl cabin does adjoin another cabin (Encantado) so there is some interaction with neighbors here.
The hosts are warm and accomodating and willing to go out of their way to make things right. When the breaker tripped on our hot tub the second evening of our stay they came down to our cabin in the dark after hours and fixed it.
All in all, for those who are budget-minded and looking for a nice location on the river that is quite near Estes Park (about 3.5 miles out of town), I would recommend Dripping Springs.
