We came to Valhalla because the cabin we rented down the road was flooded during the torrential rains in September, 2013. Our unit at Valhalla is beautiful! All we could say when coming in was "wow". THe kitchen is huge and well stocked. The unit was spotless. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We are extremely pleased!

First stayed at this resort in 1977. Cabins seem just as nice as 35 years ago. New owners will do everything to please. Just ask. You can't beat the location. Just three miles to either Estes Park or the National Park entrance. Yet, the resort is secluded and quiet. You feel as if you could be deep in the mountains. Cook a steak on your deck or eat at one of the great restaurants in town. That could be the hardest decision of the day. This is the place to enjoy the park and relax.

There is something about Estes Park! This was our first visit to the town (thanks to a college friends' wedding) but it will not be our last. Even though we were there for a wedding, we were able to enjoy many of the town's highlights including the butterfly release at the Stanley (first Monday of each month), the Air Tramway (on it's LAST run of the year!), the "best doughnuts in the world" from The Donut Haus (get there before 10am or you're out of luck!) and of course, the beauty of Rocky Mt. National Park (via Old Fall River Road) with a blissful stop at the Alluvial Fan. I should mention that the free town shuttle picks up right at the entrance of the resort.

To top things off, we stayed in Cabin #7 at Valhalla Resort. When booking, I didn't realize it was right next to the playground, swimming pool, mini-golf course, rec room and basketball court! What a great surprise :) Our kids played each day and even joined up with other kids visiting. These features are not new by any means but ask my kids if they care!? I'm sure their memory is that they played mini-golf with a group of other kids in the great outdoor surrounded by mountains!! They can't do that everyday! And we could see them at all times from the comfort of our front porch.

The cabin was perfect for our group. Everyone commented on how clean the cabin was. In a cabin in the mountains one might expect to see a bug (dead or alive) here or there. NOT the case! Yes, it was warm (it's August!) but thankfully our cabin had two box fans which helped to cool things down. And the evening breeze is perfection.

One night, we heard a loud, freaky noise outside. Scary at first but in an instant we realized a bugling elk was nearby! We practically ran over each other to try to get a look. It was pitch black outside but just as we walked out, a car passed by and shone it's headlights on a gigantic, male elk! So so so cool.

Oh, and an entrance to RMNP is RIGHT behind the resort. How great is that??

As we left the resort, I committed to encouraging everyone to visit this resort. So here goes....VISIT THIS TOWN AND STAY AT VALHALLA RESORT!

Room Tip: Cabin #7 is one of the first cabins on property and close to all the fun kid activities.

We've been staying at Valhalla for about twenty years...not every year, but every few...and each time we arrive, it's like coming home. We've stayed in several cabins, depending on the number of people in our party, and all have been clean, comfortable and accommodating. Valhalla is set back from the "main drag" of Estes Park so you really have that feeling of solitude and peace...unless, of course, you're by the pool/activity area and even then the noise level is not disturbing. Valhalla is close to town so you can zip down the street to go to a great restaurant or pick up groceries so you can cook in (love the well-appointed kitchens!). The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is close by too, which is nice for those of us who like to be on the hiking trails early. The ownership changed recently and the transition is seamless...the same caring and attentive service we always enjoyed.

We had a small reunion at Valhalla and the kids at the reunion were all 6 years old. They loved the playground, the shuffleboard and the room that had ping pong, etc. The setting was beautiful and close enough to town that it was not a pain if you had to go get some groceries or wanted to do some shopping. The cabins were clean, but a bit rustic - which was part of the charm. The pool was a bit too cold, so we did not stay in long. Overall, Valhalla worked well for our purposes.

Room Tip: We liked the cabin by the playground (our friends were in that one - I think it was #7) as we could...

I waited a while to write this review because I seem to be the only one who thinks this place is sub par. First off, their website boasts mini golf-let me tell you, the mini golf is nothing more than a piece of fake grass with a few bricks on it-very small. And the pool, maybe six adults could fit in it. Very small. The basketball hoop was broke, the cement that it sits on was broken up and dangerous to run on. The photos on the website are VERY deceiving! It shows a beautiful picture of green lush grass and beautiful landscaping-not true. In some parts of the resort, the weeds and grass were up to our knees. The driveways throughout the resorts are full of ruts and potholes-we fell in a pothole turning a corner and broke a piece off of our vehicle. There are sticks and limbs that have fallen down that no one bothers to pick up. Weeds growing up in all of the landscaping. And the hot tub that came with our cabin-what a joke! It was a round rubber kiddie pool type thing that could hold two adults at best. And it was filthy. I read the reviews over and over before spending $1000 to stay here for four nights. I just do not see what the others are seeing. We could have stayed in a luxury hotel for those prices. My three teenagers were bored out of their minds here and were very disappointed since the website showed so many fun activities that really didn't exist. Also, our cabin was so hot with no central air. I don't know if that is normal in CO to not have air, but it was miserable trying to sleep at night. I would not recommend this resort to anyone with kids. It was our worst vacation we have ever taken due to the disappointment over this resort. We even left a day early and wasted a paid night because we were so bored. Needs major updating and a realistic photo on their website.

We're so sorry to hear you didn't have a good time at Valhalla. Our additional facilities are designed to enhance our guests' experience, but are not a replacement for the mountain adventures which abound. Many guests enjoy the hike directly into Rocky Mtn Natl Park. We do water and mow the common grass areas, but other parts of the grounds are left natural as are most properties in this mountain setting. We also check and clean the hot tubs daily. The basketball goal was damaged by a guest, and a replacement took a week to arrive. As new owners, we definitely appreciate feedback and suggestions and have plans for continued improvements to our property, including enhancing the mini golf course this fall!

My new bride and I stayed at Valhalla 17 years ago for our honeymoon. This month we came back with our six children.

We loved our time at Valhalla. The cabin (17A) was amazing. It was modern, clean, and well maintained. We had asked for a pack and play to be there and it was! The children loved the playground and the game room and I loved how close the resort is to the RMNP.

I think the best part of Valhalla was the staff. I really enjoyed talking to Jim (the owner) and his family. This is family run business with Jim, his wife and their three adult children all taking a part in managing the property. They have owned for about 6-7 months so if you see a problem bring it to their attention as the are slowly making improvements.

When visiting or calling Valhalla ask about their "choose a night, change a life" program. With this program a portion of every nights stay is given back to someone who has a housing need.

All in all, this was a great experience and would do it all over again without question!

Room Tip: 17A had a washer and dryer.
