“Beware of the amenities!”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

Valhalla Resort is just OK. The price is reasonable, but the amenities are greatly overstated. We stayed in cabin 20. It is one of the largest ones. It is quirky, but in a fun sort of way. Kitchen, dining and deck were great. One bedroom was large and comfortable. Another bedroom with shared bath was Ok, but the other bedroom with shared bath was tiny. They also stated 3 full baths. This is a joke because the upstairs bath was impossible to stand in. The shower head, (no kidding) was 18 INCHES max from the tub floor. A midget could not shower there. We felt this was misleading and we had 11 people to try and get through 2 baths.
The playground for young children was almost impossible to get to with the native grasses being so tall. They could have mowed a path. The volleyball court was mud - that is where water drains. The miniature golf was just a few holes. Pool was small and little ground squirrels kept getting in it and being rescued. I feel they needed some dedicated pathways to get to their outside activities.
Out of 11 people, 8 of us got stomach flu. Not all at once but about 12 hours apart. Not sure if the germ was in the cabin or not. But the cleanliness could not have been the best. A group left a few hours before we arrived. How clean can they get a place in limited time.
There needs to be butter knives in the kitchen, and something to place ice cubes in the freezer.
I would reconsider staying here. There are resorts just down the road, both ways, that are much neater and not much more money. We are sorry we didn't get one of those. Roads and car lights will bother you in some of the bedrooms of this cabin.

Room Tip: Don't pay attention to their website - ask a lot of questions!

We want each guest to have a good experience if it is at all within our power. I believe this guest's experience was clouded by the fact that many in their group got sick. You felt this might be related to the cabin, but as we told you, the previous guests were personal friends of the owners, and we know that no one was sick in the cabin before your arrival. We completely disinfected everything after your departure to insure that future guests would not experience your illness. Our website states Cabin 20 has two full bathrooms, and an additional bathroom upstairs with a low ceiling. It's about 4' at the tub, not really a functional shower for adults. We try to represent our cabins accurately.

Since the flooding in September 2013, areas of the property remained wet and unmowable until recently, but have now been mowed. We are proud of our amenities, upgraded in late 2013 with a newly renovated activity center with covered porch and 55" tv, a new concrete basketball court and goal. Our mini golf course is small (9 holes), but free of charge to guests and provides a fun diversion for our younger visitors.
Cleanliness is very important to us, and we make sure each cabin is cleaned thoroughly before our next guests enter. Our goal is for each guest to have a wonderful experience. We are very sorry if you were disappointed with your stay.

The location is somewhat remote yet convenient. Our bathroom faucet was just a dribble. I reported it on the second of our four day stay and it was never repaired. The TV was an obsolete CRT with a finicky remote. The spa was in need of a thorough cleaning as it foamed worse than a shaken bottle of beer. All three bedroom mattresses were worn and sagging badly in the center.

I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. There WAS difficulty with water pressure in your bath faucet. In this small community, a replacement was not immediately available, and I apologize we could not get this matter resolved while you were here. I am surprised at your comment concerning the beds, which were replaced new in this cabin in late 2013, only months ago. We try to select a style which works well for most guests, but some personal preferences may not be met. We put medium firm plush top mattresses in our cabins. Our hot tubs are all checked daily, and I am unaware of any issues.

Valhalla's location between RMNP (our main focus) and Estes made travel effortless - we were close enough to run back to the cabin to use the restroom or retrieve a forgotten item in between hikes, and not feel like we were wasting precious vacation time. The setup of our cabin met our needs perfectly, between the kitchen and the grill we were able to cook any meal we wanted, save money and maximize our relaxing time. The Addison family ran a well-maintained resort area and the interior of the cabins showed their level of dedication towards their guests. The interior's condition and equipment showed someone had put some thought into predicting the needs of guests. The crackling fire was a hit with the kids & a nice touch. We did not end up using the pool or other family activity area as we spent the bulk of our time in RMNP. One day on our way to the park, we were only several feet from Valhalla's driveway & we watched a cow elk birth & clean a calf...pretty cool! If you want to experience the nature attractions of the area, this is an ideal place to stay. We will be coming back again - and will, without hesitation, stay at Valhalla again!

Room Tip: We were in 18 - which had 2 doubles (I think) and a king bed, plus a couch. It fit our family of 5...

I was very happy to come across this property on AirBnB (although I found out rates are cheaper booking direct).

The cabin was very adequate for a couple and provided everything we needed. The site was right outside of town so you didn't have the hustle and bustle that was in the downtown corridor but was close enough to be there in minutes. We also enjoyed using the hot tub, especially since they took appointments so we were able to have privacy. Wildlife was everywhere especially in the early morning and late evening. Certainly recommend this place to others.

We have had two very brief visits here in the past year to check out the facility for a wedding anniversary celebration and family reunion in August, 2014. Both visits were very pleasant, and the staff was pleasant and helpful. We were pleased that everything was very clean. We have spent a fair amount of time checking out other Estes Park venues and have settled onThe Vahalla Resort for our reunion because it seems to best meet our family's needs - location, on-site activities, accommodations, comfort, etc. We were especially particular in our choice because we will have very young children with us (ages 15 months 3 years, and 5 years). For that reason we didn't want to be too near to a major highway or river, yet have room outdoors for the little ones to run around, Everyone but us will be flying in from out of state. We also like the fact that the owners are upgrading the facilities. We are looking forward to our 7-day stay in August!

We stayed in one of the smaller cabins on offer, if not the smallest. The bedroom was a bit small (one had to climb over the bed to get to the other side because there was barely space to walk around) but despite this, we had a pleasant stay, and the rate was affordable. The property has seen a fair amount of work over the years and it seems the owners are undergoing more improvements since when we stayed in late April the activity and laundry rooms were being renovated and the road smoothed out/resurfaced. The property itself is convenient to the town if you travel by car - it's a longer walk, but the tradeoff is that you're staying closer to RMNP.

My family and I stay in Cabin#29 and it was such an amazing place. Everthing was practically supplied except our own food. It was very clean and felt like home away from home. We will definitely be back again soon. Thank you so very much.
