Service was very slow. My wife ordered lobster ravioli. The ravioli was floating in a very fat unbalanced untasty sauce. It was extremely salty and fat. The dish I ordered, New York steak was so so, but the mashed potatoes were bad.

The waiter was slow and didn't pay enough attention to us.

Only good point: the manager of the restaurant listened to our complains and didn't charge the lobster ravioli on the bill.

Not a recommendation, hopefully this review will help improving the quality of the food.

This restraunt was recomended by a family member. We made reservations for 2 couples celebrating their 30 and 35 anniversary. We were very disappointed. We did ask to sit out on the porch as was reccomended. The porch is not very wide. The view was not very good as the plastic shade was pulled down due to weather conditions. After ordering we looked around and saw the nice dining room. We asked if it was possible to move in there. It just looked more special than out on a narrow porch. The waitress said she would see if she could arrange it. Before we could move our food came so we told her we would stay on the porch. Two of us ordered steaks and two ordered fish. The one steak that was suppose to be rare was barely pink. We sent it back. The other steak was tough and not cooked properly either but we didn't send it back just pretty much left it. The bill came to $75.00 for mine and my husbands. We did expect that as we had 3 drinks and 2 desserts on it. But, then we noticed the steaks were both $6.00 more than they were suppose to be. We mentioned this and they fixed it. They said that was because they charged us the dining room price and not the porch price. Wow, for the same meal it was going to be $6.00 more to eat in the dining room. Sorry, but this was not the special place we thought we were celebrating our anniversarys at. Think again if you want to feel special. This wasn't it.

We enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner here after a day out in Rocky Mountain National Park. The location is away from the main tourist area and so it was pretty quiet even on a holiday weekend. It was warm enough that we were able to have a table on the deck, and the views are very nice. The food was good, my husband had one of the specials, the smoked brisket, which was good but had a little more fat than he cares for. I had the trout, and it was very good. Nice wine list also. The service was very friendly and attentive.

We ate dinner at the lodge and it was all delicious, from the grilled salmon to the beef lilet to the hamburger, all were served quickly and tasted wonderful. We also had the Sunday Brunch which has many choices including an omlette chef to make one how you want it. Brunch was very reasonably priced and all you can eat. Try to get a table on the deck for beautiful views of the lake and valley..... a free bonus...LOL.

I've been to the Tavern a few times over the last few years however my most recent visit over the Memorial Day weekend solidly placed Mary's Lake Lodge and Tavern as one of my all time favorite places. The new manager, Morgan, has really stepped things up a notch, scratch that, multiple notches and surpassed all expecations. The service from the wait staff to bartender was impeccable. I have many food allergies and the staff didn't blink an eye or seem the least bit annoyed with my questions regarding ingredients. Living in San Francisco we are accustomed to superior quality when it comes to eating establishments. The Tavern is up there with the best. Happy 100th birthday MLL, here's to another century of awsomeness!!!
