I looked through about 30 cabins around Estes Park before I booked the River Spruce. It did not disappoint my family at all. We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. The place is more beautiful than the pictures posted on their website. Shelley made fresh and hot home made bread for our breakfast. It tasted so good. Next time when I want to go to Estes Park, this is the place I will stay again, again, and again.

The peaceful riverside cabin was a last minute find for us to take a quick weekend trip on the kids' Fall Break. This was just a couple weeks after the flooding in Estes and the main highway was closed so we took the back way and were rewarded with a gorgeous scenic drive. Upon arriving at River Spruce we were warmly greeted by the owner, Shelley, who got us settled in a cozy cabin that sits about 15 feet from the river. The grounds were already immaculate - each cabin has a tidy little picnic table and chairs surrounding well-kept fire pits just steps from the soothing river. Shelley even had firewood we bought for our stay. The cabin was also neat and tidy and had plenty of blankets and pillows for our chilly fall nights. The cabin is heated and comfy with a full kitchen and bath. Rocky Mountain National Park can be entered by foot just up the street or by car about 5 minutes away. We saw plenty of bugling elk, birds and coyote.
River Spruce is well kept, the owner warm and welcoming, in a great mountain location for a reasonable price - we will definitely return to explore the park and town further!

Room Tip: Can't go wrong - all of the cabins are right on the river, but if you want a private hot tub you...

My heart goes out to all with the recent flooding. My heart is also broken that I could not get a refund from River Spruce. I work hard for my money and looked forward to staying here. One day they said they would refund the next they said they wouldn't because the roads may be open. We booked for prime time and they only offer was off season re-booking. We usually stay at McGregor, they are offering full refunds for anyone booked through January 1st, 2014. I am very disappointed with these ladies and they have lost a customer.

The only negative thing I have to say about my stay at River Spruce is that it wasn't nearly long enough. When booking for vacation this year, we decided to try some new places that we'd never been, in hopes of finding the one place that we'd like to visit each year. We found it at River Spruce. I happened upon River Spruce during an internet search and we were able to book two nights in the Tom Tom cabin. This place books up fast and steady so we jumped on it. The pictures of the property don't do it justice. Our cabin was right on the river. The rushing of the water was peaceful. We had a hot tub and a small fire pit on our deck. There's nothing better than sitting on the deck by the fire, listening to the water rushing past and watching the stars in the sky. Wendye and Shelley, our hosts, were welcoming and friendl and they deliver muffins to your door each morning. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. Well appointed with everything that we might have needed for an even longer stay. Our cabin was so comfortable that we were happy to just relax on the deck all day, have a quiet dinner and enjoy the fire. We will definitely be going back to River Spruce and staying much longer than two days.

Room Tip: The Tom Tom cabin has a hot tub on the deck and a Coleman fire pit. It's great for a small grou...

My husband and I stayed at the River Spruce Cabins in June of this year and I can't find words to tell anyone who looks at the reviews just how beautiful this place was!! Sitting by the river and having a warm fire right at your feet! What more could you want? Ok, I'll give you more. The cabin called Sunshine was beautiful. VERY, VERY CLEAN and so cozy. As for the owners; well those who have had the pleasure of staying here know how sweet Shelley and Wendey are and how much they will go out of their way for you and how well they manage the cabins. They even asked my husband and I for our opinion of where to hang a basket of flowers over one of the front window of our cabin. Thanks for asking us. Did you get the picture of us all together? We hope to be coming again this summer. People out there; you will LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

P.S. You'll also get yummy treats Mon.through Sat. Right Shelley?

We stayed here 4 nights but could have stayed here easily 2 weeks. What a beautiful, peaceful place, just 6 meters from the river. We used the firepit every evening and had breakfast, lunch and dinner by the riverside. The cabin (sunshine) was great with everything we needed.
Wendey and Shelley: thank you for your hospitality, you are both so kind. And last but not least the muffins every morning were sooooo good :) If we return to America in the future, we will come back to Riverspruce because for us everything was perfect.

Room Tip: Cabin Sunshine was perfect, with everything in it what you need for a relaxing holiday.

My friend and I recently spent a week at River Spruce Cottages, staying in the cabin "Little Twig."
We had experienced a terrible journey via train and were exhausted when we arrived. Getting into our adorable little cabin was sheer bliss. The private river front was only 10-15 feet from our front door and the rushing, burbling sound of the water soon lulled us into a state of complete relaxation.

The cottages are tucked away behind some trees, and unlike other river cottages set out on the meadows, felt very private. The other side of the river is part of the property, lined with pine trees which add to the seclusion.

The cottages are old but very clean and well maintained with many of the small touches that take a place from good to great. Thick pillow top mattresses and down pillows made sleeping a real treat. A flat screen TV and full DVD library, plus free wifi for the few times we felt like reconnecting with the busy world. A personal firepit and Adirondak chairs on the river enabled us to loll in front of the pristine water, watching the trout fishermen, the birds and the squirrels while drinking our morning coffee. Best of all, every morning Wendye brought us a basket of fresh, hot, home cooked muffins. They were fabulous.

River Spruce is about 3 minutes from the entrance to the Rocky Mountain Park on the edge of Estes Park, away from the hustle-bustle of town, but close enough to avail ourselves of all the amenitites.

One evening we were amazed to see a male elk on the roadside, grazing on the neighbors flowers. Nature is everywhere and River Spruce is a perfect place to enjoy it.

Thanks Wendye and Shelly for making our trip to the Rockey Mountais so special. We will be back.
