“Happy it rained !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2012 via mobile

This was our second visit to Estes Park but our first visit to this B and B. my husband and u had plans on camping in the park, but the rain that lasted about 2 full days really dampened our camping experience. After much consideration my husband and I started making some calls for some dryer accommodations. Knowing that it was still tourist season and the elk fest was only 2 days away I knew finding something would be tough. We managed to find 3 places that could fit us in on such short notice. I remembered seeing this B and B online and remembered it being very nice. Furthermore I also remembered that a friend of mine stayed here only a few months back ( and she had good taste) so we decided to go for it. I can only assume there was a last minute cancellation because there's no way there would be a two day vacancy.
The road that leads u to the B and B is a little bumpy dirt road that feels like you are leaving society behind. Right before the driveway was a huge bull elk along with a few ewes as well. We pulled up to a cute home and was immediately greeted by Cindy ( who was off for the day) and Mary. We were checked in, told about breakfast, common areas ect and then we were escorted to the " cowboy suite". It was about 10 steps up to our suite which had a huge deck. Inside was a big cowboy themed room. Personally it is not a decor I would normally seek out or have, but it was very cute, warm, dry, and inviting. The bed was enormous and there was also a large jetted tub with bath oils and rubber ducks. There were two leather chairs, a table, and a book case. The bathroom was small but modern.
We went back to the main house were there was some coffee and homemade cookies. There we had the chance to talk to Mary and hear all about her adventures( I also learned that it was Mary I spoke with when making the reservation). I could have talked to her all night.
The next morning was a breakfast extravaganza. Coffee, juice, apple crisp, and spinach quiche. By far the best breakfast on our vacation. The cute dining room was filled with other guests from the uk and Berlin.
The next day we slept in a little later and had to wait for a table at breakfast. While doing so we chatted with other guests waiting for a table as well and took advantage of the coffee set out to help yourself. Breakfast on day two was banana pancakes with walnuts, juice, coffee, and fresh fruit. It was another delicious start to our day.
On this morning you could see a big bull elk standing on a little hill, deer and wild turkeys.
The grounds here are beautiful. Lots of places to sit and read( or drink coffee: tea)it would be foolish to just sit inside when the grounds are so beautiful. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to stay here.
Would I stay here again...... absolutely but I would want to try a different room because there are so many to choose from. I would love to visit in the winter and explore the property by snowshoe!!

This place was a total let down from start to finish, with a few lovely surprises thrown in. The beginning of our stay was a day later than expected, due to a problem with scheduling (an honest mistake) which was corrected and even though we couldn't stay there we found another great place to go for the first night, The mountain valley home B&B. Because of this mistake, Mary, who is an absolute sweet heart, paid for us to have a romantic candle lit dinner. I highly reccomend this if you get the chance, everything was perfect! You are a wonderful chef and hostess!
My biggest issue with our stay was Dianne, she was very nervous and almost controling and put us on edge just being in the same room as her and other guests we spoke to felt the same way. Dianne, you are definitely in the wrong business...
We asked if she could please make more coffee at about 2:30 in the afternoon and instead of doing so she walked back into the kitchen without saying a word and watched us stand around for 10 minutes waiting for it. When we finally asked she looked shocked and annoyed and told us "well we don't make coffee more than once, so once it's gone it's gone". Seriously how hard is it to make coffee? She also gave us an incomplete room tour which ended with shutting the door on me while I was in the middle of asking you a question, frankly she came across as strange, insecure, and infectiously uncomfortable.
We stayed in two separate rooms due to last minute booking on our part, the first of which was a cabbin off the main house. It was decently romantic other than the small captains bed which doubled as a bookshelf, but being separate from the main house was nice. Our second room was odd, to say the least. The bathroom took up about 2/3 of the whole room and there was no door seperating the bed from the bathroom, not exactly romantic in my opinion. In both of the rooms the beds were uncomfortably small, further discouraging romance, and so uncomfortable neither of us got a good nights sleep and one woke up several times with back pain he is still feeling. While we understand that thin walls come with staying in most B&Bs,but this was a little extreme, you would think "the best place in Estes park" could invest in wall insulation.
Both breakfasts were wonderful, other than the "fruit compote" which was really just warmed up canned fruit salad, yuck. But other than that we had a potato quiche which was delicious and creative, and a huevos rancheros the whole table raved about. The woman cooking breakfast was also very sweet and hospitable.
All in all I would say this is a nice place to stay, but if you're looking for magical go elsewhere, and also if you're easily affected by the negative energy of others make sure Dianne isn't working (although she lives on the property to make sure no extra coffee is made).

Room Tip: Stay out of the mountain rose unless you don't need any privacy in the bathroom.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The service and food were superior. We treated ourselves to the private gourmet romantic dinner for two which was worth every penny. We also enjoyed hiking up the side of the mountain on the property which provided a spectacular view of the area.

Room Tip: The Morning Glory room is especially convenient since it has a little kitchenette with microwave and...

We stayed in the "Cowboy's Delight" for three wonderful night. This room has a "Howdy-do" feeling with absolutely everything you need, could ask for, or dream of needing.

The property is divine not in the glitzy sense, but from a John Muir style. But it is the innkeepers and the staff that make Romantic Riversong truly exceptional. Mary, Dianne, Carol, Blanca, and Cynthia made our stay so memorable. This will not be our first and only trip to the inn because of their warm hospitality. This will be the first of many visits to this lovely lovely inn.

Take the time to book a dinner there. It's by far and away the best food in Estes Park and it will be made and served to you with exceptional care and service.

Room Tip: Check out the pics on the web. There are several different kinds of rooms for what you are looking...

This inn is at the end of the road in its own private multi-acre setting--away from all the commotion of Estes Park, yet close enough to take advantage of restaurants/shopping, and the road in to Rocky Mt Nat'l Park is just around the corner. We saw elk on the drive in, and they wandered all around the inn's property as if tame and just posing for pictures--absolutely amazing! The folks that work at the inn are incredibly warm and welcoming. Our room (Pasque Flower)--though a two-suite cabin--felt very private and was very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts are delicious and wonderfully presented, and the cooks did an excellent job of accommodating my dietary restrictions. I would definitely return to this inn again!

The Romantic Riversong is a great place to stay if you are visiting Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a short drive from downtown Estes Park but secluded enough that you know you are secluded. We stayed there five nights so we had enough time to see and enjoy the Riversong. We stayed in the Shooting Star which was a little dated but very nice; it was over more a more expensive room on the first floor. There was another room opposite us which seemed to have been updated and was a bit larger. Since we were going to be there five nights we rented a room with a less expensive rate. The Shooting Star should have a makeover as the door between the basin and shower/toilet was an old pull door. But.....if you are in Estes to see RMNP.....then this room is perfect. The breakfasts are very enjoyable and the staff is quite capable. When we arrived, we were met by Cynthia........a very charming and outgoing person. She made us feel quite at home! Mary and Diane were also great hosts as well. I think we only met the Innkeeper on the last morning we were there......but it did not matter as the other hosts and staff personnel were quite capable.

Room Tip: If you want the least expensive rooms, pick either The Shooting Star (where we stayed) or The Mornin...
