Great location between the city and Rocky Mt. Park. The owners were very friendly, knowledgeable and gave helpful advice. Beautiful cabin both inside and out. We enjoyed our stay and would love to stay here again in the future.

We visted BlackHawk Lodge early August 2014. This is our 5th time staying here. Our family loves the cabins and the beautiful Fall River which runs behind the cabins,. A great place to relax, fish and visit with family. Our grand kids love the stream and the location to Rocky Mt. Park. It is a quick easy trip. The lodge is also close to town down and you can ride the shuttle for free. No worry about parking down town. We would highly recommend the lodge for anyone who wants a great Rocky Mt. vacation. Randy and Teresa are great Host. They are always updating the cabins. We can't wait to go back.

This place was perfect, you can't ask for a better stay and such a reasonable price. This was a family trip, so my brother and I (mid-twenties), plus my grandparents. Even though the age gap, everyone was extremely happy with the visit. RMNP is only a few miles away, Estes Park town center is only a few miles in the other direction (shuttle available from the cabins), or you can hang out around the lodge and go fishing which my grandfather did the majority of the time. The staff is amazing, they helped with my many questions and spent so much time making our trip even more enjoyable. We stayed at cabin #10, I know there was a bad review about that cabin, mentioning it was "run-down and cramped", but I did not think that in the slightest. There will always be someone who will complain no matter the condition...it is a different style than the other cabins, so it's only the top floor, but it's more private than the others, it really depends on what you're looking for. Overall, great place would absolutely recommend this to others.

With three nights, we wanted more room and a nicer setting than a motel would offer, but we were on a more limited budget than most Estes Park condos seem to fit. I settled on Cabin #8 at Blackhawk, and we really enjoyed it.

Given its proximity to the road, I was expecting quite a bit of noise. There was busy traffic when we arrived in the early evening, but it thinned out fairly quickly and we weren’t bothered after that. That could be due to #8’s position up the hill, with #7 blocking the highway; that position also gave us nice views up and down the canyon from inside, and up the hill from the picnic table outside.

Inside, it looks pretty much as the website shows, but a bit brighter and less pine-y. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, dishes, good quality pots and pans, etc, plus some extras maybe left behind by previous guests, e.g. powdered creamer, salt & pepper. (We left our coffee for the next guests too.) The full-size fridge had an enormous freezer. The shower curtain should be replaced with a sheer – the ceiling over the tub is very low, the curtain goes right to the top, so no light gets in unless you leave it gaping open a foot or two. That’s a very minor complaint! No shampoo etc but we knew that going in. Good hot water pressure; everything was very clean.

There’s now a big ceiling fan/light in the living room, and two smaller ones up in the loft. We would open the windows when we came back in the evenings, turn on the fans, and it cooled down in minutes.

The loft has a small walk-in closet with a bureau, but honestly, I’m not sure how you get anything up to it - that little staircase is steep and small and tight. I hauled up my mom’s under-packed carry-on and a couple small bags, and we left everything else downstairs. The beds were very comfortable.

The big crt tv worked fine, but it’s on a swing-arm next to the bathroom, and we both nearly whacked our heads on it more than once. Wifi signal strength was good.

Most of the other cabins had Adirondack-style chairs outside, so not sure why Cabin #8 had plastic ones. There was also some exterior woodwork that hopefully will be replaced soon…

We didn’t meet Teresa, but Randy was very helpful and friendly. He had local coupons and a map when I asked, and was happy to answer our questions about the town, RMNP, the river, the lodge, etc. (They had also responded promptly to my emails before and after booking.)

We loved our visit, and I would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: Cabins 8 and 10 are probably the quietest.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Blackhawk lodge. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. It was in the perfect location. It was only a few min. from Estes Park and just a couple of miles from the entrance to Rocky Mt. Nat. Park. We had bighorn sheep in our front yard. It was very reasonably priced. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We were there in the spring and had 6 in. of snow fall one day. It was beautiful. The roads were clear by the next morning. We got to see how spectacular the mountains looked covered in snow. There was a cascading river right behind the cabins which only added to the experience. Book a stay at Blackhawk Lodge. You wont regret it.

This by far was one of the finest cabins we have ever stayed in (very reasonably priced) and one of our all time best vacations. My son, daughter-in-law and grandsons stayed in Cabin10 and my wife and I were in #9. The cabins were wonderful and cozy and scenery was beautiful. Only 2 miles to entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and close to everything in Estes Park. We injoyed fires by the river and sometimes in the cabin at night and enjoyed various wildlife that appeared near the cabins There is so much to say about this expereince but the best part of the trip was meeting the hosts Randy and Teresa. They were the most gracious hosts that I have ever met in my travels. They were so kind and helpful the entire stay and these are two people we will always remember and definetely plan to see again. We dont know when but we will definetly return.

Room Tip: Just tell Randy and Teresa what you want and they will get you to the best cabin that applies.

We just stayed in cabin 10 for a week and had family stay in cabin 9. Cabin's were very nice, clean, and comfortable. We had all the amenities but still got the "cabin" camping feel we were looking for. Great location close to all that Estes Park has to offer and only 2 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park. As perfect as the cabins were the owners are even better. Randy and Teresa couldn't have been more inviting and helpful during our stay. We will definately be back and wouldn't consinder staying anywhere else.
