“Great gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park”
Reviewed 5 August 2012

This is a great location for visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park and the town of Estes Park. It is a very short walk into town for restaurants and easy drive to the park entrances. The room was large and very comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast provided with the room rate was a nice way to start the morning before hiking in the park. Would stay here again.

Spent two nights in #204 upper condo unit with a balcony over the river. Lots of room, very clean, comfy bed and friendly staff. Just far enough away from the crowds of downtown but close enough to walk to all of the shops and restaurants. Easy access to the park and trails. Will return for a longer stay.

My 9-year-old daughter and I stayed at Murphy's for three nights for a little girls' weekend. The room was cozy, clean, secure, and very comfortable. We had a second-floor room with a balcony and enjoyed having meals outside above the river; the sound of the water coupled with the frequent sightings of hummingbirds darting in and out of the trees made it a lovely spot to relax and plan our day. I loved having a fridge with a freezer in addition to the microwave. The pool is set in a sunny greenhouse-type room and was a great place to recover from hikes and horseback rides. We'll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I were disappointed at our 5 night stay at Murphy's River Lodge. During our stay we had to ask for more body wash, we also had to ask for more individual wrapped plastic cups, we read the notebook in the room and learned they don't change sheets except every three days, which we were ok with that, except they forgot to include that they do not remove the garbage in the room, clean the toilet, shower, sink....the same dead mosquitoes were there on the back of the toilet until the 3rd day! Then they must have ran out of body wash, because they added shampoo to the body wash dispenser. Besides the dispensers were never filled to the fullest to look more professional. When we checked out no one even asked if we enjoyed our stay. For the price, and it being a Motel not a hotel was quite disappointing!!!! It was also very noisy with guests running by our rooms outside(not the motels fault) Were not looking for 5 stars, and I grew up in Colorado.....just hoping to have what we paid for.

Room Tip: room size was nice

Thanks for your feedback regarding body soap and shampoo dispensers. We have passed on to House Keeping to always makes sure that dispensers are always topped off. Regarding the rooms being cleaned - It sounds like a mistake was made and your rooms was missed. It is standard procedure for all rooms to be cleaned daily. We always ask our guest that if their is anything we can do to for them to just ask. I really wish you would have said something so we could have solved your problem immediately!!! If you read any of the other reviews you will notice that cleanliness is top priority at Murphy's.

This is a lovely little place to stay thats just at the end of the main strip in estes park. My only complaint is that because it is a very old structure if you have a room on the bottom floor the floor above does creak, and if the people upstairs are night owls sleep is hard to come by. It has a cute continental breakfast with a surprising variety of things. My husband and I did like it.

Before I stayed here the pictures showed outdated rooms but the reviews were good so I gave it a chance. Wow! I am so glad I did. The beds were perfect and the sheets were so soft! I only wish they would have more outlets for all of our gadgets. The air conditioner blew directly on the beds and the light shined in through the bathroom window at night. I sent an email to the staff after our stay to recommend changes to fix these issues. All the rooms have DVD players with a selection fo free rentals in the office-nice touch. All they need is a waffle maker and this could be a perfect hotel! My family will be back!

As a previous reviewer said, this place is simple and clean -- just right! We had a very spacious king bedroom with a balcony and really found the room comfortable and the staff friendly. Loved the coffee they served for breakfast too. We walked to dinner each night, which was a nice cool down after hiking all day. Really enjoyed this place and would recommend it.
