“Outstanding way to start the year!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014

We stayed at Murphy's Resort for a quick New Year trip and were amazed at the hospitality. Bruce and Loretta manage the place and immediately made us feel at home. Our room had a two-person jacuzzi and fireplace that was split between the bedroom and living room. Breakfast was included and our room even had a kitchen with all the amenities needed to cook and serve meals.
Less than five minutes away are an ice- skating rink, indoor rock-climbing facility and downtown Estes Park. Rocky Mountain National Park is fifteen minutes away.
While we loved our room, the best part of the experience was the feeling of "home" that Bruce and Loretta give out. We hope to come back in summer!

I spent two relaxing evenings at Murphy's Resort, though I wish it could have been longer. The hotel staff and owners were very welcoming, friendly, and the rooms were clean. One thing that I appreciated was the DVD collection the property has for guests to check-out. I would highly recommend Murphy's Resort for anyone, especially couples, to escape for the weekend (or any time of the year).

First off, my family and I chose Murphy's Resort because, we work all week for the holidays and wanted to escape for one day. Murphy's Resort was one of the few places in Estes that allowed us to book one night stays during New Year's Eve. Boy am I glad I did!

Their hospitality is bar none. We stayed one night, but were greeted with nothing but cordialness and hospitality. We rented several movies, getting several recommendations from the woman who checked us in (I forgot to grab her name - but boy was she sweet as heck!).

We stayed in the Flowers Room - with the private tub. It worked phenomenally and was very relaxing. The room was extremely cleanly and inviting! I loved the little detailed touches they took; the cute ways they folded the towels and kleenex! They also provided plush pillows - and lots of them for each bed - and plenty of soap for the bathroom.

Did I mention they made sure we were greeted by Stella, the black poodle, upon checking out? She's very loving and will give you several licks, so I hope you like dogs! We sure do!

We stay in Estes every New Year's Eve and will make sure to return to Murphy's Resort!

Thank you Murphy's Resort for an unforgettable, wonderful, and relaxing experience!

As a side note, it's also a short drive to all stores and shops, which we always love walking too. This time of year, coming after the flood, it was great to see everyone open. In Boulder on New Year's Day, everyone is shut down, but not in Estes. Every where you go, the store owners are thanking you for your business and for coming in to their stores to shop or look around. I love how friendly the people in Estes are; this is why we come up every year.

Room Tip: The Flowers Room was fantastic. The private jetted tub helps relax those weary bones and is perfect...

Tami, I appreciate your review, so does Stella. She is becoming popular. Our house keepers are very good at putting a personal touch on each room. I will be sure to share these words of encouragement with them. As for the gal at the front desk your referring to, I believe that was Melissa, she is phenomenal, we appreciate her. Thank you. We sure hope you come see us again in the near future. Yes, all of Estes Park is grateful for the support that you and others bring. Your business isn't taken for granted. Thank you, return soon!

We were in desperate need of a New Years Eve getaway, and had heard so much about the beauty of Estes Park, so we decided to try to make it happen. My wife's relatives had recommended Murphy's Resort. Based solely upon their recommendation, we reserved a room for our family of 5. We got in around 9PM on NYE, and were ready for a few days of adventure and relaxation. From the moment we pulled in, the staff of Murphy's was amazing. They embody the old fashioned customer service mindset that so many establishments can't seem to figure out. Anything we needed was accommodated with utmost satisfaction, and without the feeling that we were a burden. We know that with 3 young children, we are not the "perfect" customers, but we were treated with kindness and amazing hospitality. The beds were extremely comfortable, the room was clean, with plenty of room for all of us. We will be back hopefully soon!

My husband and I wanted to do some Christmas shopping in Estes Park, and ventured out, not knowing what the road conditions would be (after the flood). There was evidence of the flood in many places, but the road itself was good, and we had absolutely no problem getting to Estes Park. We had previously stayed at Murphy's River Lodge and had thoroughly enjoyed our king bed river room with Jacuzzi, so we decided to stay at Murphy's Resort. We were delighted to find that Bruce and Loretta had moved over to Murphy's Resort from Murphy's River Lodge. In addition to managing and maintaining the Resort, they have the knack for making their guests feel welcomed, make them feel at home, and make them feel like they are part of their family! Their caring, welcoming, and hospitable manner carried over to the reception agent, Meredith, and the rest of the staff members we interacted with/met. Everyone had a positive attitude and importantly, they all also had a smile!

We were amazing at the amenities/facilities offered at Murphy's Resort. There was a guest laundry, a large and beautiful indoor hot tub, a fitness room, and free WiFi that always worked. Weather permitting, there was also a playground for children (slide, swings, etc.), a heated outdoor pool, and a kiddie pool. There were picnic tables and BBQ Grills placed at various places around the property, and it looked like some of the larger accommodations each had a patio off their room with their own grille. The Resort had kind of a "Retro/Blast to the Past" appeal, because very few Resorts now provide these kinds of guest amenities/facilities.

The Resort had several room types, everything from handicapped accessible rooms, to theme rooms, to suites, and family rooms. Some rooms had fireplaces, and some rooms even had Jacuzzi's. Mountains were visible and some rooms had a view of the lake and mountains. What a combination!

We stayed in the spacious Audrey Hepburn theme room that had several framed pictures of Audrey, including a fun 3D-type picture. Our room had a comfortable king bed, a loveseat/couch, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, an in-room coffee maker with complimentary coffee packets and condiments, a wall-mounted TV and a DVD player. DVD's could be checked out for free at the front desk. There was a hose-type airdryer (the first I had ever seen or used, but they are popular in some overseas locations), iron and ironing board, and grooming necessities (shampoo, bath gel, etc.). We were surprised there was no phone in our room. We mentioned this to one of the managers (Bruce), and he said that almost all guests now have a cell phone (or more, in the case of families), and therefore, room phones are not the necessity they used to be, and that guests often welcome not having another phone to interrupt their vacation and/or quiet time. (Makes sense, now that we thought about it!)

Another thing that made a terrific impression on us was the cleanliness of the room. We have stayed at very few resorts/hotels/motels where the rooms have been this clean, and we definitely appreciated it!

In addition to the reasonable room rate, there was an extensive and complimentary Continental breakfast that included a wide variety of breakfast offerings, including coffee, juice, pastries, bread to toast, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt. The coffee was a little weak for my taste, but everything else was terrific.

We visited many of the stores in Estes Parks and were able to get our Christmas shopping done! We even discovered some new stores, on Moraine Avenue, away from the immediate, downtown area, that we had never seen or been to before, and that was fun! The clerks in the stores we visited all thanked us for coming in, and when we made a purchase, they all verbally said, "Thank you. We appreciate your business!" We were astonished, because who says this any more? It made a big impression on us.

In conclusion, we appreciated the friendly and warm manner and service shown by the Murphy's Resort managers, the staff members, and even from Stella, the Resort's mascot! My husband and I recommend Murphy's Resort and look forward to staying there again in the future!

Room Tip: The lake-view rooms would offer a terrific view, but there are several theme-rooms available, and th...

My husband and I spent 3 nights here with our 2 dogs over the holidays to escape the craziness of the season and had a wonderful and relaxing time. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and made us feel completely at home. The location is very convenient, and the rooms are very clean and included a kitchen, jacuzzi tub and double sided fireplace. We booked for 2 nights but ended up staying a third as we had such a great time! We'll definitely be back.

We love this hotel! With the lovely room, balcony over the Fall River and the dvd player, well, it is so comfortable and realxing we did not want to leave. Beds are so comfortable and I slept like a baby. The breakfast is good, fresh and a wide variety. We brought Christmas movies and had some goodies by the fire and it was a wonderful Christmas Eve to remember. Great heater and lots of extra blankets to cozy by the fire. The staff is so friendly and accomodating...helped us with finding open restaurants and other info. We went swimming in the indoor heated pool and used the jacuzzi...not too much chlorine and very clean! A very short walk to downtown for shops and restaurants. Best place in Estes Park for couple, single or family!

I see you stayed at our sister hotel Murphy's River Lodge. Yes, the balconies are wonderful, you can relax to the sound of the river. This is the trip advisor for our newest hotel; Murphy's Resort, we are not on the river however, you can see Estes Lake from here. We hope you come visit us again in the future at either hotel.Thank you for your positive comments in many areas, our goal is guest satisfaction. Regarding our pool, both the manager and Gm of Murphy's hotels are certified pool operators. The pools at both locations are tested everyday for our guest safety/cleanliness. A pleasure having you, your return visit means a lot to us!
