This was our visit stay here, and it was great! The staff is so friendly! Estes Park itself is beautiful! It's fun to just look through the various buildings on site or sit and enjoy the views. We stayed in the Manor House. They have started a continental breakfast in one of their larger downstairs rooms. The food was very good! ANd the staff was so helpful that morning.

Like other reviewers, we took advantage of the Living Social deal and spent a weekend at the Stanley. As a Colorado native I was familiar with the hotel and its history but had never been on the property. I was impressed from the moment we walked in. The exterior of the hotel is beautifully maintained with an inviting patio and flags waving. Inside, the grand staircase is very prominent and you'll find people lounging in the open lobby. We checked in with Tyler who also turned out the be our guide for that night's ghost tour. He shared stories about the room we were staying in and was great to talk to. Our room was small, but we didn't expect a large room on a discounted rate. The highlight of our weekend was the Ghost Tour with Tyler - he was a fantastic host - very entertaining, knowledgeable, and inclusive of everyone in the group. He seems like someone who really enjoys his job. I certainly understand the historic and paranormal significance of the hotel, but the downside to staying at this hotel is all the ghost hunters. At any given point in the day you will see and hear people roaming the halls, taking endless photographs and reviewing them for orbs, blocking the stairwells, standing in front of your room trying to "sense" things, and more. (I can't imagine what it would be like to stay in rooms 401 or 217 - we were in 400 so people were constantly asking us where 401 was.) This was all well and good during the day - but when people were standing outside our room at midnight with EMF detectors and spirit boxes making no attempt to be quiet, it was just plain annoying. I didn't sleep the first night and had to take sleeping pills to get through the second night. It seems there should be some ghost hunting curfew put in place!

Room Tip: The 4th floor seems to be the most active for ghost hunters and people looking for room 401 - I suspect the 3rd floor would be optimal for peace and quiet.

We stayed at the Manor House Lodge in one of the three top-floor deluxe suites. The room was very nice and spacious. The bed has a nice pillow-top mattress and the bed was "triple-sheeted" which is an extra touch, however the sheets were a bit rough on the skin as if they needed some fabric softener in the wash. This was the smaller building next door and was a bit quieter than the main lodge and perhaps a step up in decor. It seems like it is run more like a Bed & Breakfast with a bit more personal touch than the main hotel. With our upgrade, the breakfast was included, It was not a cooked breakfast, but was a very nice continental breakfast with wonderful pastries and home-made jams and spreads by the Innkeeper who greets you for breakfast.

There was some painting going on in this building on the main level, so there was some paint smells present in the common areas, but not in the room. The walls and ceiling in the room was marked with touch-up and filler as if it was expecting to be painted soon.

Room Tip: The website did not give a clear indication as to what building your room would be in. We ordered Deluxe King Room and thought we were going to be in the main lodge, but also added an upgrade to the suite, which ended up putting us in the Manor House. We actually are glad for the change as it was a nicer, but the ordering process wasn't very clear and even the confirmation did not identify the type of room we had ordered. You want to be on the West (front) side for the best views.

Hotel Management does NOT honor their advertising. We went on their website and reserved 5 rooms at a rate of $54. When we called the hotel to confirm the rate, they said that I accessed some unique code on their own website and they would not honor the rate. They only said that if we did not cancel the reservation, they would charge us $319 a night per room. I think there are laws against this type of advertising? Why would you want to give people like this your business? See you in court!!!!
