A genuine treasure. Everything was spot on. I could imagine the people in the pictures strolling the grounds a hundred years ago and having the same experience.
The room was spotless, the lobby was a great place to hang out, and the food in the restaurant was delicious. Stay here!

My husband and I have been here 24 hours now. This is a trip for my birthday... Things got messed up with the florist and Matthew an employee here fixed things and got my flowers and balloons. It was so nice. ABOVE AND BEYOND service!!! Thank you so much!!! The dinner and waiter was also excellent... Happy Birthday to me!!! Much more then I expected!!!

We have been coming to Estes Park for decades and have looked up at the Stanley and wondered what it would be like to stay there. We are thinking about retiring to Estes and decided to visit in the winter to see what it is like off season. Estes was its same wonderful self, but the Stanley was a disappointment. Room was so hot that we had to leave the bathroom window wide open to get the room cooled off to 74-75 degrees, shower was sloped so water ran all over the bath floor, room amenities are the same as a cheap hotel, drinks in the bar are over priced; you expect for a hotel bar to charge premium prices, but you don't want to feel like your getting robbed. Definitely cured us of our longing to stay there again.

Midge who manages the Lodge arrives at 3:30AM and prepares a continental breakfast that rivals no other. Her homemade pastries are to die for and the presentation is warm and elegant. Midge makes you feel like a sought after guest in her home. She made our mornings.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the Lodge. Be sure to enjoy Midge and the welcoming atmosphere she provides!

Midge is phenomenal! I have passed along your kind words, and she was touched. Personally, I'm not sure how she wakes up that early, but she does it with a smile nearly everyday. Thank you for your business, and Midge is looking forward to hosting you again!

If you are coming for the big room, big TV, big pool! Wrong place! If you are coming for a beautiful hotel, phenomenal scenery, abundant wildlife (including sometimes in town) then you have come to the right place.
The Stanley offers you ghosts, history and a great ambience. Not big rooms and swimming pools. The history of the hotel and the easy access to the mountains, parks and photo ops everywhere will keep an exploring family/couple very busy!

Take it in and enjoy, it is wonderful!

Room Tip: Try and stay away from the east side, could get a little warm in the summer.

I purchased a Groupon to stay at the Stanley Hotel. I'm not sure how reduced our price was compared to the regular price, but we paid $100 for a one night stay that included a $15 voucher for the Steamers Cafe.

Our room was lovely and comfortable with an incredible view of the mountains. I was impressed with how warm the room was despite temperatures in the teens outside. Previous older hotels I've stayed in have tended to be drafty. I will say that there seemed to be a shortage of hot water. Our shower was lukewarm at best.

The best part was the friendliness of the staff. Everyone was kind and enthusiastic. I was particularly impressed with how professional and welcoming the front desk staff was.

The historic tour was informative and interesting. I'm glad I had the opportunity to visit such a beautiful hotel. I recommend a stay at the Stanley for anyone that likes to visit places with a bit of history.

Room Tip: According to the tour guide, the 4th floor is said to be the most haunted with guests frequently com...

You're better off just coming to see the hotel, take some pictures and then stay somewhere else. The front desk staff seemed very unprepared (may be a seasonal thing). The front desk blondie rolled her eyes when I asked if it's possible to check in early. The rooms are small (which I knew already). You'll see random tourists wondering the halls where the rooms are, taking pictures (or looking for ghosts?). I was overcharged which I will be disputing. To top it all off, the morning of checkout there was no hot water so had to tackle a day of traveling, unshowered. The checkout person didn't seem too concerned about this.

I was so excited to stay here and I'm sorry to report a disappointing experience.
