VERY nice staff & nice rooms. Excellent meal in Cascades. Yes the walls are thin, as it's a very old hotel. But it is exceptionally charming and well maintained. The customer care was genuine and we'll stay there again. Gerry from Colorado

It's an integral part Estes Park and Colorado History. It might be a little on the more expensive side, but I think it worth the price. They have left the Hotel in it's original period decor. The hotel is said to be haunted. One of the things you can do while you visit is take the haunted hotel tour. It's a hair raising and informative experience. But a lot of fun.
They do have a restaurant on location. Their food is excellent and the staff attentive. They offer a bar in the restaurant area. From your table in the restaurant you can view the courtyard and fountain. Which adds to the ambiance of the experience.
From the front porch you will have fantastic views of the mountain peaks, the town of Estes Park, pine trees, and elk on the grounds. They have a pool on site too.
The Stanley Hotel has had many famous people stay there. One of them is Stephen King. It is said this is where he got the idea for the book The Shinning.

Room Tip: One of the channels plays The Shinning

Thank you for the comments regarding your recent stay. Sounds like you had a chance to really explore the hotel and see all it has to offer. One point of correction, we actually do not have a pool anymore but have decked the area to cater large outdoor functions and events!

We hope you will come back and visit us soon. Take care.

Sincerely,

Access to the hotel via road is easy. Tip: to easily go to check in, park in the lot, and look to the right where there is a ramp leading down to the floor where check in is located. There is also a ramp on the left outside to the 2nd floor on which floor is located the elevator.

The staff seemed exceptionally well trained - to European standards YET with American engaging personalities. In fact, many were from Europe. Get a room on the front side of the hotel so as to see the mountains in the morning.

We both enjoyed the beauty, food, and staff of the hotel and plan to stay again.

Room Tip: Everyone wants 217 (where Stephen King stayed), but I think the top floor facing the mountains where...

Had a good time overall. Ghost tour was ok, not really believable. Rooms -they are nice but walls are thin and you can hear everything. Bar is excellent! The views are stunning! Staff was very helpful.

I love the Stanley hotel and just had my 5th visit. The reason I go to Stanley is to get away and relax from the college town Fort Collins. The cascades bar is an adults playground with over 500 whiskeys and more to come. Jimmy and Mercedes are awesome mixologists as well as fun friendly hosts. The food in the restaurant is first class and always served with flair. Looking forward to next visit. BTW I was in room 230 and the temperature was perfect!

Spent one night in the old hotel, stayed in a Superior King room, with 3 big windows and one oval window in the bathroom, the room was nice(needed a good vacuuming and dusting) room had a large king bed with nice beding. Its a old building (keep that in mind when booking) but thats all in the charm of this hotel !! (the bad housekeeping is not so charming). We had a bad meal in the hotels Cascades Restaurant, the food was good but we found plastic in the meatlof and in the dessert, but the manager took the blame for the kitchen and comped our meals, but we did take very good care of our waiter.

Room Tip: Go for one night and go for the best room you can afford!!! We loved our Superior King room.

This hotel has a reputation for being haunted, and they do play that up a lot. They even have a tour to capitalize on it. If you believe, then I think you'll be pleased. If you don't, it is still a wonderful venue full of beautiful history. The bed and room were very comfortable. We had a hot water problem when we tried to shower at 6am. When we mentioned it at the front desk a couple of hours later, they gave us a key to a different room in order to shower. But we tried the water again in our own room, and it was fine. When we checked out, we told them we never used the second room, and they gave us a $50 discount off the fee (we didn't ask for that). What I'm saying is, I was really pleased with the service and willingness to make us happy.
