Will stay here again. Close to hiking in the Rockies. There is no A/c but that has not been a problem. Food is okay, free breakfast is great. Stayed at the lodge. The beds were great. Getting ready for the ghost tour.

I checked visiting The Stanley off my bucket list last week. It is stunning, full of history (and ghosts). We stayed in one of the Overlook Condos. It was just beautiful. Clean and well furnished. Loved my visit with Madame Vera. Food in the Cascades Restaurant was delish! I only give four stars because we got stranded one night and there wasn't any emergency vehicle to rescue us. Thank God for the kindness of strangers in Estes Park.

I have now stayed in this hotel twice. There are a lot of things I like about this hotel. First off, what a great view this hotel has. When you are standing/sitting on the big veranda you see the town of Estes Park and the Rocky National Park mountains.
At night sitting out on the porch looking at the mountains it has a very relaxing and romantic feel to it.
The inside of the hotel has great ambiance. You will see an old stem engine car that was built by the Stanley brothers.
Also they have a great ghost tour of the hotel.
Now if you are looking for ghost stay on the 4th floor. Or first trip we stayed across the hall from the elevator and all night long we heard kids running up and down the hall and giggling. (One of the haunted stories is of kids doing this very thing!)
Also I have heard the 2nd floor is haunted as well.

Room Tip: if you are into ghost ask for the haunted rooms on the 2nd and 4th floor.

We have been staying at The Stanley for over 15 years and finally were able to stay in the "Stephen King" room and it was incredible. We didn't see anything "ghostly", but we did the ghost tour with Scary Mary and it is a must! Great!!!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are small, but you can get great last minute deals.

As most other reviewers share, the staff is wonderful and the charm/history make this a special place. While the room was clean, we did not receive any housekeeping as we were in our room dressing for rehearsal dinner and wedding on both afternoons. Asked housekeeping to come back. Didn't happen. Our room was on the third floor of the lodge next to the back door. When the back door closed the noise was huge, our room door and windows shook. Both nights were awakened multiple times throughout the night and early morning hours. So we advice chatting with reservations when booking to ensure a better room location.

Room Tip: Avoid any location next to entrance/exit. If stairs are not your friend, ask for room on lower level...

Our experience in the Stanley Hotel was awesome. The hotel is a great sight and there is endless exploration down every hall and around every turn. There is so much history within the hotel. We were never bored while there. We did a ghost tour, Savannah was our guide and she was an awesome hostess! Your front desk staff, Reuben in particular, lack in customer service. It's okay to smile guys! Or say "have a nice stay!". Our room was cool, just the way you would hope your room would look in a haunted old hotel. Yet it was still clean and fresh. We loved the windows. We stayed in a King Room with a pull out sofa sleeper. We had some problems with the room. First of all, we ordered a package where we were supposed to get mugs and squishy ghosts, and a "ghost radar". None of this was waiting in the room like it was supposed to be. We went down to the desk to get it and without a word much less an apology the Reuben guy went to the back room and came back out with our stuff. Also the sofa sleeper was missing sheets. They weren't in the bag in the wardrobe either. They did bring the sheets up to our room though. We couldn't get the AC to work although it wasn't hot enough to where we made any staff available. As a hotel...I wouldn't recommend it but since it is THE STANLEY I would say GO for a fun experience!

Room Tip: 401 and 217 have longer waiting times but have more paranormal activity!

I have used the Stanley for Company meetings a few times and have great experience. My most recent stay was May 22nd and 23rd. I took my sales and marketing team of 20 people to the Stanley for an offsite meeting. We ran into a few issues that were surprising to me based on my past experiences. First, one of my employees was freaked out when she saw "The Boy Daniel Hurt Them" written in white paint in around the door frame in her room when she arrived in her room. The front desk was a little rude "Mr. David" when she asked to changed rooms. Second, during our meetings, my boss took a break and when returning to the meeting trapped in the elevator for 30 minutes in the lodge. kind of embarrassing to have your boss trapped in an elevator. He as able to get out once the hotel staff was able to pry the doors open. Third, The fruit tray that was catered for our breakfast the morning of our 2nd day was served with molded raspberries. Not just a little mold but every raspberry was totally covered. The hotel did its best to correct each issue when I brought the issues to their attention but overall it is embarrassing to have these issues occur when you work so hard to host an offsite meeting for your staff.
