My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Downtown for three nights this past weekend. We picked the hotel as it was in downtown, close to the expo center and state capital bldg. We were in town for the Amica 70.3 half ironman race on Sunday, 7/12/09. The hotel was in walking distance, and the rooms were immaculate and looked brand new! The beds are very, very comfortable! The staff at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful--they let us check in early on Friday, helped with restaurant reservations, helped with directions, and they even prepared early bagged breakfasts for all the triathletes and friends/family that had to leave by 3:30 a.m. to get to the swim! I thought that was a very nice touch, and totally unexpected. The free breakfast was good at had a variety of hot and cold offerings, fruit, and decent coffee.
I went to the Hampton Inn this past Saturday. (June 20) It is near the theatre and a quick walk to the river fire. The hotel was very new, very clean, and very nice. The staff was wonderful from the minute we walked in the door until we left. I am already planning on going back to August. Great bang for your buck!
We enjoyed three nights at this brand new hotel. The location was perfect for attending our son's graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design. The hotel is only a block away from the river, which makes it easy to get to Waterfire, and it's within walking distance of all of downtown. The hotel staff was attentive, helpful and accomodating. The lobby and breakfast area were beautiful. Overall, an outstanding experience!
We chose the new Hampton over the 5 stars in town and were very happy! It has only opened a few months ago and everything was wonderful. The renovated lobby area is gorgeous. We had a two room king suite that was very roomy and comfortable. The bed was very, very comfortable with excellent white linens and great pillows. There were two large flat screen TVs (one in bedroom and one in living room) and a granite topped bar/kitchenette area with sink, microwave and refrigerator. You can get room service at this Hampton from the Downcity restaurant next door - the food there is excellent. The furnishings are modern and well coordinated. Large bathroom with granite vanity was spotless. The staff are all very friendly and professional. The breakfast is good and free. There is a fitness room in the basement with treadmills that have their own TVs. And their free shuttle will take you anywhere! The location is right in the middle of Downcity - so there is plenty to do within walking distance. Valet parking is $25...and they will collect your car for you with 15 minutes notice. For business or for leisure this is a great choice! We visited the Waterfire event in Providence on Friday night that was amazing...the streets were a bit noisy that night and in the morning the buses travel in front of the hotel. Probably best to ask for a room towards the back or on a higher floor. In the king suite, the living room faces Weybosset and you could hear street sounds but the bedroom (with window towards the side) was much quieter.
