“Another wonderful stay”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

I've stayed at the Inn at the Wharf before and needless to say have enjoyed it.

Once again I found the rooms ample, nicely furnished, clean and the views spectacular. I also enjoyed sitting in the common area at breakfast, eating the hot muffins and coffee provided with the room, reading my paper and conversing with other guests. Since I stayed there for two weeks while attending Summerkeys, I really appreciated the cooking facilities and access to a washer and dryer.

Last summer's erratic internet problems have been solved.

Several staff members and the owners remembered me from the prior year, which makes me feel like a valued guest.

This property exceeded our expectations in every way. We had been prepared for the fish smell, but barely noticed it. The room (Sea Gate) was very clean and had a balcony for 2 that adjoined the common balcony area, and walked into the common room with kitchen where coffee was available each morning. A refrigerator was there for sharing. The views were spectacular. In two nights we saw mesmerizing sunny water, heavy fog the second morning that burned off, a gentle rainy morning--it was just beautiful. Our bed was comfortable, chairs were great for reading, sitting and talking, or for watching the dock and the ocean. The staff could not have been nicer. It was great to be able to dine on site our first night. A restaurant guest suggested we try the Water Street Café for another local experience, and we had a fantastic dinner there.
The only downside was the spotty Wi Fi. The first night it was fine, not to stay on ever again. Another surprise was our "smart" phone which told us we were abroad and subject to international rates. We both turned them off. Campobello was minutes from the Inn and customs was quick on both sides of the bridge. The Roosevelt property was very well presented, a joint project of Canada and US. The Visitor Center information was easy to read/view and enhanced our appreciation of the place, as well as the history. A nice, brief film runs continually which old and young seemed to enjoy. We had packed appropriately with light summer wear for days, sweatshirts and heavier clothes for the cool-cold nights. There is no TV in the rooms and no a/c. We did not need a/c on our visit.

Room Tip: The rooms closest to the restaurant have the balconies, which are nice, and overlook the dock. For...

This was a terrific find! The rooms were simple but comfortable and the view of the water was phenomenal, even complete with sunsets and boats. The staff was friendly and helpful. The adjoining restaurant had fresh delicious seafood and tasty blueberry pancakes. We only stayed a night due to our overall trip itinerary, but would definitely plan for a longer stay another time!

Beautiful views, spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms and a host that insures that every guest's experience be a positive one. Restaurant on site serving the freshest of seafood(and other things) at a reasonable cost. Kayaks, bicycles and whale watching available. Lubec is a charming quirky, artsy town with friendly folk who are glad to see you. Golf at Campobello, hike at Quoddy Head or the Coastal Trail in Cutler. An excellent option over the usual Maine costal tourist destinations. Well worth the drive. We already have reservations for 2014.

Room Tip: Avoid the handicapped room near the steps unless required

At $100 a night in the middle of summer on the water it is a great deal.
You could find a hotel off the water for a little less, but not much less.
The view is great and room was new and clean. Staff is super friendly.
The only downside is it can be a little noisy as we were next to the common
area, so I asked for a fan and it was fine. Loved waking to the sounds of the ocean
waves. Rest. next door was very good, odd that it is closed on Thursdays.
There is no TV just so you are not suprised.

We planned an impropt-too visit to Lubec, ME for school vacation week at the end of April (my girlfriend is a teacher). We called The Inn and Jim (the owner) answered. He explained this was not typically the time they are open but he said because he was up there early, he would be more than happy to invite us up. What a treat! Jim was so nice and hospitible. We love to travel to places "off-season" and this was a certainly a vacation to remember. It was very quiet as most places we still closed for the seaon, but we got to experience the local flavor, which is more of what we like. Back to the Inn...It was super clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful with local tips as well. Yes, as we read is some previous reviews, there definately was a fishy smell, but it certainly was not offensive and we felt it only added to the ambience. Our "apartment" was named "The SeaGull" and it was rommy, spotless, and well equippend. Thank you Jim for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: We stayed in an "apartment" and it was well worth the upgrade (not too much difference in...

The first thing you notice is the slightly fishy smell. It's a working wharf - this is something you would expect. It's ever-so-slightly everywhere, including inside.
The hallway is striking, with it's light colored tiles. But those tiles will echo everything - the cleaning person's cart in the morning, the footsteps of everyone headed by, the closing of every door. Combine this with thin walls between rooms and afternoon naps are Right Out. (One night, sleep was right out til our neighbors settled down!)
The bed was perfect, the view out our sliding glass door was incredible. There are no TVs to distract you. There is a large common area with a kitchen for guests to use.
We had to bring our own coffee in the first day, though some appeared later. Things like this define this inn - extreme helpfulness, but not always thought all the way through.

Room Tip: There are no quiet single rooms. Sorry. If your neighbors are noisy, the staff will help try to find...
