The Inn at the Wharf

My husband and I stayed in one of the apartments with beautiful water views. The amenities included a full size kitchen with dishwasher, two full bathrooms, an outdoor deck accessible from the living room and master bedroom, and wireless access. The only thing missing was a TV. The Inn is connected to Fisherman's Wharf Restaurant that is open from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. One local man told us that this is the only restaurant in Lubec that has a breakfast menu. The Inn maintains a working waterfront where you can see lobster boats bring in their daily catch. Whalewatching and lighthouse tours also leave daily from the wharf. The FDR International Bridge that connects Lubec with New Brunswick Canada is only a 1/4 mile away. This inn is in a quiet, quaint location with much to offer in coastal sightseeing.

We live in N. California & decided to visit because Lubec is the most eastern town in America & it sounded like fun. It was my favorite place on our 1500 mile trek. The offer a whale watching boat twice a day. The ocean view from our room was perfect. The room was clean, with crisp white sheets. I wish we could have stayed longer. Using the phones in our room was free because there's no Cell Service. Internet was free of charge but no TV. Not sure if it was available in other rooms but for us it didn't matter. There's a large comfortable gathering room with full a kitchen. In the morning there was fresh cranberry muffins, hot coffee & a view to die for.
What made this place so special for us was the restaurant. There are 2 woman who cook breakfast & lunch. Not only did they go out of their way to make us feel welcomed their fish & clam soup/chowders are amazing. I ate "Periwinkles" for the first time. For dinner I had Lobster & it was very good. Prices are fair and we had plenty to eat. The place is more homey than fancy but for us that was part of the charm. Everyone was friendly & made us feel welcome.

Located within a short walking distant from town. Cute shops & galleries. We walked instead of drove across the bridge to Campobello, Canada. If we ever make it back to Maine this will be our destination. Thank you.

Room Tip: Order the fish soups. If you go introduce yourself to the cooks. They're wonderful.

The bay front rooms are small, but very functional and clean. Also quite cute. The big plus is the common room which has a couple of different seating areas, deck, kitchen, laundry and restrooms.
Who wants to sit in a motel room anyway. I've never been in a hotel that had such a great way to meet folks and enjoy your time, without it being a bar. It has it's own excursion boat for whale watching and you can rent kayaks or bikes right there. It's only a short (very short) drive or walk to the heart of Lubec.

Very nice place and friendly staff. We stayed in one the new buildings on the little cliff nearby.
We had a magical view on the water to see the tides in the bay.
The restaurant in the Inn (The Fisherman's Wharf) served the best "Fish Soup" we have ever eaten. The only sad thing is that the restaurant is closed on Thursday. We went in town for diner, a ten minutes walk. We also had a wonderful meal at Frank's Dockside Restaurant.
So, if you want to relax and be away from it all, this is the number one place to do it.

Found this gem by accident.
We were wandering around on our way to the Bay of Fundy and happened on this place.
Fortunately, they has a vacancy. The view is "killer". We could have stayed for a month. The restaurant served the BEST mussels I have EVER had.
Staff (evening ) were Bulgarian working students and eager to please - they did, in spades.

Room Tip: Any one you can get. I expect you will have to book early id planning on May - September.. We were t...

Based on primarily positive reviews on TA, my husband and I booked this converted sardine factory and checked in on Labor Day for 4 nights. In a long building, the restaurant sits at one end above the docks, 3 apartments ($150/nt) occupy the far end, and the "bed-an-breakfast" style rooms ($100) surrounding a common area are situated in the middle. Our Seagull apartment occupied the entire depth of the building. It was so spacious, with living room and master bdrm (king sz bed) side-by-side at the water's edge along with a small balcony off that bdrm. A completely furnished kitchen sits in the middle of the unit along with a heavy wood dining table and four very comfortable matching chairs. We didn't even use the other half of the unit -- another bedroom (2 twins), full bath, and separate living area (couch, desk/chair) -- but did make good use of the washer and dryer in the unit. We ate breakfast twice in the restaurant and it was adequate. We really appreciated the undercover parking in a "fishy" old warehouse (lots of rain during our stay), but if mobility is an issue be aware there are stairs to get DOWN to the lodging units on a steep hillside (half a flight one end, full flight at the apartment end. The coffee and muffins (delicious!) included each morning were located in the common area of the "B&B" section. This place in the very small and quaint town of Lubec was the perfect home base for our day trips - the longest of which was driving the entire Fundy Trail in New Brunswick, and the shortest Campobello Island (2 lighthouses and Rossevelt's summer home).

We stayed at the hotel for two nights. The first night was in one of the two bedroom apartments and the second night in one of the regular hotel rooms that had a balcony. The two-bedroom apartments are exceptional! An incredible amount of space, a wonderful balcony that overlooks the water. The kitchen is very spacious with lovely granite countertops, a full size refrigerator, a 4 burner stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, pans and dishes. It has a master bedroom with a king bed and a second bedroom with two twins. Both bedrooms have their own full size bathrooms. The entire place was immaculately clean. The charge for this apartment was $150 per night, which seemed very cheap to us. The apartments (there are only 3) were not available for our second night, so we moved to one of the hotel rooms with a balcony. Four of the hotel rooms have balconies; however, while the apartment balconies overlook the water and are away from the dock, the hotel balconies are over the dock, really upclose and personal with the employees and fish odors. Also, the hotel rooms with balconies are tiny, smaller than a normal hotel room. I've read on TA that the hotel rooms without balconies are larger and while we really enjoy a balcony, I would have chosen the non-balcony one over the room we had. The price for that room was $100. I'd say if you can get one of the apartments, get it and enjoy it, but I think if the apartments are booked, I might look elsewhere.
