“Wonderful Museum”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

We spent a whole day here. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Get here early to see all the shows and exhibits. We saw a bird show and a reptile show. We also ate at the eatery here. The food was excellent. Loved this museum. It was a great experience. Our grandchildren loved stamping animal tracks at various stations as we walked along. The docents at this museum are very friendly and informative. We will definitely visit again. It is just so much to see and learn for adults as well as children.

“A must-do!”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

Visiting the Desert Museum has to be part of your Tucson itinerary! The combination of beautiful natural setting, nice walking through cacti, live animals, hummingbirds, and good gift shop makes this a first rate way to spend an afternoon. Also, the drive there along Gates Pass Road through the mountains is spectacular.

“One of my favorite places in Tucson; a must see for visitors”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

It's a zoo, it's a museum, it's a botanical garden and more all rolled into one. Any and all aspects of the Sonoran Desert are covered from the native peoples, history, urban sprawl, and of course the native flora and fauna. My husband isn't a fan of museums or zoos or gardens, but somehow he loves this place. It's beautiful with a gorgeous setting and there's always something new to learn and appreciate with each visit. It's also near Old Tucson Studios and Saquaro National Park West. It's easy to spend an entire day and not get bored. Some folks spread out their visit over a course of a few day. My favorite things are a recreation of Southern AZ caves, the safari looking overlook structure, the prairie dogs (too cute!), big cats, desert otter, animal demonstrations and that gorgeous view. I visit 2 times a year for over 15 years and never tire of it. A must see for visitors! Be sure to use sunblock and bring a hat n sunglasses...the sun's brightness can be intense even in winter.

“Top-Rate attraction, no matter the temps!”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

Even if your mobility is pretty limited, there's something for everyone to see and experience on this terrific and up-close tour of the Tucson-area desert. Whoever put this place together certainly had families and realism in mind, and you feel you're very much a welcomed guest in getting a peak behind the scenes at some pretty terrific desert wildlife and plant life. The aquariums are just right in comparison to the property theme, and you come away with a far deeper appreciation for this special place in our nation and the globe. We brought home a little cactus plant from the gift shop that was very well-prepared to survive the trip home in its own little box! You're never more than a few steps from a drinking fountain or restroom, parking is plentiful and well-marked, and they even have SPF-30 next to the sinks in the restrooms! Come spend an afternoon (or evening, if stargazing on special events) and bring the family! I'm glad we did!

“Excellent Intro to the Area”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

This is an excellent introduction to the southwest desert. Set in a large area of desert parkland and next to Saguaro national Park, the Sonora Desert Museum has a wealth of local plant life and a great selection of indigenous animal life. Enclosures are, for the most part, large and engaging for the inhabitants. An especial treat is the Raptor Free Flight experience - go to it if you can, you won't regret it!!
