Having been to both the GRANDVIEW in Brainerd Minnesota, as well as Rancho Tanque Verde in Tucson (both properties owned by the same folks), I can truly say that you're in for a real experience in either place. Charm just oooozes out of every corner. The "chuckwagon" mealst on the outer reaches of the property are fantastic - you think you're in a Gene Autry movie back in the 50's. Just a lovely place to relax, to have fun, and a retro moment.

It is always nice to have met people who have enjoyed both our properties and we appreciate the recognition of the Cookouts and breakfast rides. These are both signature events and we have as much fun making them happen as you have enjoying them

We have visited the TVR over the years with family--3 generations as well as by ourselves. There are many activities including riding, cycling, hiking, tennis or just plain sitting and looking at the mountains and enjoying the solitude and rest.
The food has improved over the years and also the wine list. The staff is helpful and cordial and reflects the pride of the owners who have been here for nearly 100 years
It is nice to find things improve with necessary changes.

Room Tip: We prefer suites above the main area. They overlook the general common areas and are in the heights.

It was fabulous to meet you all and I am pleased that you enjoyed the improvements in both the food and wine programs; this is an area the team has been working hard on and will continue to evolve.
We are working on improvements to other aspects of the ranch and am sure that next time you return you will be pleasantly surprised at some of these.

We stayed in the off-season, July, and practically had the whole ranch to ourselves. Our accomodations were in a casita. The main room had one queen bed and a twin, a room off to the side had another bed. Bath had double sinks and a small fridge separate from the flush and tub/shower. There were 2 large overstuffed chairs that we turned towards our large corner window enabling us to admire the mountain views. We also had a covered patio area with seating just outside our door.

The beautiful outdoor pool area was very clean, plenty of lounge chairs, and a nice stone arch waterfall feature. The indoor pool was large and the room was dimly lit. We used it one night during a rain storm. We ate breakfast in the large dining room and had excellent service.

The hi-light of the stay was absolutely our horseback riding experience. It was our first time and we had a wonderful guide, Karen. The horses were well behaved and we easily learned how to handle them. We were the only ones in her walk/ride group and she shared lots of information about the desert plant life as we rode along. I was surprised with how much vegetation and how fresh and wonderful it all smelled. ( I must also note, yes, we did notice a horse ranch smell near the barns, but our casita was located a short distance away and we could not even detect a faint odor.)

I thought the ranch property was kept up beautifully. It is located at the very end of the road next to the Saguaro National Park. It has been in existence since the 1800's and certainly blends in with its surrounding landscape instead of screaming look at what was just planted. The employees could not have been more pleasant nor could they have been more accommodating. It was our first ranch experience and we hope it will not be our last.

Thank you for your kind comments. I personally love the Summers in Tucson and think that it is the perfect time to visit; when you add that to less guests, more personalized service and better value it is a win for everyone.
Hoping to see you back again this July

My parents arranged for a very expensive family reunion here. Unfortunately, the place was overbooked, they staff was unprepared for so many. We had a great time, due to the location and the fact that we were all together, but the staff at the ranch had little to do with it. I have never met such a rude, condescending group of people who work in the service industry. The "wranglers" were the worst. If they get paid extra to belittle and berate guests, then these people are probably making alot of money. It was appalling. It was unfortunate, as the kids program was great and there were a few shining stars. Daryl, the tennis coach, was awesome. The food was fine. But I would not return, nor recommend that anyone pay money to have a horse vacation here.

While I am pleased that the kid's program, Darryl and the food stood out for you, I am disappointed that your experience with our wranglers was less than stellar.
Sometimes when guests perceive their riding abilities to be different from the way we see them, it is difficult to convince them of the safety aspects of our more advanced rides. We are continually working with our staff on empathy and the guest experience however safety for the rider in question as well as all our other guests is the primary concern.
I am sure that if you and your family return, you will have the same high praise for our staff, even when busy, as the other reviewers have had.

This was our first time to TVR so we were somewhat apprehensive about the whole adventure! My wife and daughter love horses and riding so it seemed like the perfect retreat for them - I however am not overly keen on the Equestrian life but do love a good Cowboy movie! We cannot praise the Ranch enough - our accomodation was very good - spacious and very comfortable - the food and meals - terrific and the horse riding and other amenties- excellent! What impressed us the most was that the staff were all very, very helpful, friendly and willing to do anything to make your stay an enjoyable one. The scenery was stunning and the weather was absolutley perfect! The amount of repeat guests that were there during our stay was unbeleivable which is a positive reflection on the ranch and just how satisfied guests are made to feel!

Room Tip: We stayed in a Suguardo Suite which was well appointed but lacked any Iphone of Ipod player or charg...

It goes without saying that my entire family is addicted to Tanque Verde. Something happens to us as soon as we get there. The stress and tension slip away as we drive down Speedway and travel through the dips. We all felt that the Christmas 2011 trip was the best one yet. The horse selection was excellent, the food outstanding, and the staff amazing. Thank you to everyone involved for making this the best place in the world!

And, yes, I did cry as I got off of Tiny after my last ride for the trip. I promise myself each year that I won't shed a tear but each year I am wrong. We will see you on December 26, 2012!

Thank you, it is fabulous to hear that despite having as many guests on property as we did (completely sold out) that you did indeed enjoy yourself as much as you did.
That the service, the food, the hospitality and riding experiences exceeded your expectations and past experiences and that you took the time to let others know.

I look forward to seeing you again in December and Tiny misses you tremendously. (Had to send him to counseling over separation anxiety).

Cheers
Nicholas
