Recently returned from The Lodge at Ventana Canyon and wish I could've stayed longer. This was my 2nd visit in the past three years, and they've definitely continued to further enhance the property. The new rooms are beautiful, nothing was overlooked... spacious and comfortable with incredible views. Also, the food + service was fantastic, and the Mountain & Canyon courses are in-perfect shape, every golfer should play these courses. Overall, the experience here reminds me of the best resorts in Palm Springs, but more laid back for families with kids, and without a ridiculous price tag. The Lodge is a great getaway -- highly recommended.

First the positives...Great sized suite made up of two rooms that each are bigger than your typical hotel room and good location minutes from Sabino Canyon. Having said that, if you are expecting a resort experience like the other hotels in the Tucson Foothills, think again. This is a country club with rooms attached to it...no front desk, they check you in at your room. The pool is a country club scene where and does not have the amenities of a resort. There was also mold in the shower and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall.

We stayed here for only one night but it was a lovely place to stay. The only cons were that our room had large windows at the top that could not be covered so if you want to sleep in that was a tad hard. Our room was SO huge at almost 1,000 sq feet. The shower could fit many people and the tub was a beautiful claw tub. The room was a tad out dated but we really did not mind it at all. We live in Texas so the incredible views of the mountains were just beautiful to us. Go on a walk in the morning through the grounds and up towards the houses built into the side of the mountain...we really enjoyed it! The gym is small but has everything you need. The guest locker room was huge with a steam room, spa and just about any thing you could think of for a bathroom. Our service was great the whole time and we would for sure stay here again!

Room Tip: We were in room 232 which had excellent views and was huge!

our fancy travel consultant pointed out that this property has been dropped by their group affiliations and several reviews on the site suggest that renovations are in order. thus our expectations were low. we were pleasantly surprised.
while our accommodations did seem dated, the room was spacious including a kitchenette, sitting area, large bath with both shower and soaking tub, balcony overlooking the golf course and facing the mountains. the room was clean and the price was right.
there is a gym, restaurant, and bar

Pros: comfy beds, good prices, close to restaurants and Sabino Canyon
Cons: pool is for lap swimming, average age is over 50

Overall it's a fine place to stay if you're looking for a bed or are an avid golfer/tennis player over the age of 50. If you are young family, you will find it's not the best place for you in Tucson. We ended up leaving early since the pool isn't the kind you can hang out at and let the kids play. Luckily, the front desk manager was gracious enough to refund us our prepaid nights without any hassle.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the croquet field.
