“Loved Westward Look”
Reviewed 20 August 2005

This was by far our favorite place ever. My family just returned from a week's vacation in ME and said how Westward Look is still our favorite place ever.

The room was wonderful, lots for the kids to do. We went at Christmas time when the cactus were decorated with Christmas lights and there were cactus wreaths. A wonderful family retreat.

After living in Tucson most of my life, I had always heard how wonderful the Westward Look was, but never had the chance to stay there. I brought my son back to visit my family and we reserved a one room suite. The views were awesome and the service was fantastic. I also had a chance to use their spa services for a massage and it was one of the best I ever had. I enjoy staying in four and five star hotels and for the price, this was the best deal in Tucson. They even had "explorer kits" for the kids at check-in. I would definitely stay there again.

Located north of Tucson, this resort looked nice. We stayed here 3 nights in July 2005. Each little building had 6 rooms on 3 floors, we got a suite-sized room with patio, it was very large with bathroom (a bit old) & dressing room and beautifully decorated. The resort had very well maintained gardens and three little pools + jacuzzi. The drawbacks were the breakfast in the (overrated ?) Gold Room (high price for just average food) and the proximity of the road (a little bit noisy evenings on the patio with a debatable desert view). The staff was on the whole friendly and we got an attractive "3 nights stay" (summer) rate.

Loved it! Down in the old Pueblo for a swim meet and we got a great rate...as we walked in the doormen opned the door and the front desk had ice cold lemon water..given it was 109 outside we liked it. We checked in and we were given a west facing room great! Southwest feel and nice and cool when we wlaked in...we went over to the pool and had chips and salsa ...the grounds are lovely and there is wildlife everywhere. Super stay! My only complaint....i wish the weather was cooler we will be back in the Fall.

We stayed at Westward Look for two nights over July 4th weekend and were a little disappointed. We had booked our room very early and requested a room with a city lights view, however upon arrival were told that one was not available. It appeared upon check in they did not even have information about the type of room, size etc. that we requested. The grounds and lobby area are very nice and have an Old Arizona feel. Our room was very spacious and very clean. It would be great for families. The one thing we were disappointed in were the swimming pools, if they re-did the pools that would be such a plus to this property. During our stay the lower pool was closed which caused the main pool (the nicest one) to be very very over crowded and does not have enough seating. The wait staff by the pool and bar were great and we were even suprised one night we a complimentary dessert, which was excellent. One final thing, the maid service did not get to our room until almost 4PM, which seems a little odd as we were out and about since 7:30AM that morning. Would have been nice to have the room clean by at least 2. Overall, a good place to stay if you get a good deal and don't expect a newer pool area.

What a lovely place to stay and unwind! Especially after a long transatlantic flight. We really loved the grounds and the desert trails, although it was so hot we had to walk these early in the morning.

For the special Internet rate of $99 (actual cost about $120), my husband and I had a poolside room with patio. In addition to the usual amenities, we had a fridge, coffee-maker, and a large dressing area leading to the beautifully tiled bathroom. We ate in the Lookout Bar on two evenings and found it excellent value for money. The Gold Room looked too "posh" for holidaymakers with a limited wardrobe.

We had only two real niggles - we had to watch TV from the bed because the cupboard doors didn't fold right back and an aversion to the "resort fee" charged in addition to tax on the room price. Is this fee imposed by the local authority or a crafty way for the hotel to increase it's prices? I've looked at the websites of other resorts in Tucson and most seem not to charge a resort fee as a separate item. Whichever, it left a nasty feeling.

We got a great deal on a room at this place, and totally enjoyed our stay. The spa was small but the staff and services were wonderful. The grounds are beautiful, and although the hotel is located in a very busy commercial area, it is set far enough back from the road as to seem like a secluded sanctuary. The restaurant was excellent (highly recommend the prickly pear margaritas). The hotel is not exactly luxurious, but there are a lot of nice little touches, comfortable beds, great bathrooms, and a very friendly, professional staff. Absolutely no complaints.
