Tohono Chul Park is one of my all-time favorite places anywhere. Gorgeous gardens and habitats, docents nearby to share information, and a truly unique place right in the heart of northwest Tucson. The lovely patio garden restaurant serves a very nice tea as well as other types of bistro food, and they are sort of known for their prickly pear lemonade and margarita.

I enjoy strolling the grounds and sitting quietly listening to the birds and fountains. Sure to impress, Tohono Chul Park is known locally and abroad as a place of beauty and education that showcases what's wonderful about the desert southwest.

When you are surrounded by the stark beauty of the desert, a place like this really amazes. I specifically spent a few days in Tucson to photograph some tourist attractions. It was a hectic trip, but the time spent here was very relaxing.

I will have to come back when the temperature is much cooler! The gardens are beautiful. We toured on a weekday morning and had the whole garden to ourselves. Unfortunately we were too late to view their "Bloom Night" which I hear is beautiful to view. Other than cacti, birds, fish and butterflies; we didn't see any other wildlife. But it was already so blazing hot that they all probably found a shady spot to nap.

If you do decide to make a trip to this garden, don't forget to check out the art museum!

Went to the park for the first time for Bloom Night, a Tucson ritual that takes place when the park's cereus cactus bloom at night in July. It was a lovely experience, with candlelights guiding the way down each path, and volunteer docents standing watch to show the way to the best cacti and tell stories about them. We didn't get to see a lot if the grounds before it got dark, but we liked what we saw enough to get a membership so that we can return as much as we'd like.
