We were actually heading out to the Desert Museum (A must-see as well) and just had to pull over. It was pretty fantastic here with the cactus forests and awesome mountains. I came out a second time with some running shoes and just ran through the desert. Love this place.

Small open park with great sunset views! Trails are very nice. I suggest coming in the afternoon for some hiking and then stop to enjoy the spectacular sunsets. You won't be disappointed.

Go to Gates Pass to watch the sunset- Kitt Peak is clearly visible to the west. Quiet, lovely park- you can be anywhere within it and be unable to see any trace of people in any direction- right on the edge of Tucson with a million people!

We arrived for the late afternoon and sunset. The park is very open and there are several nice hiking trails.

We took 2 seperate hikes during our vacation in Tucson. Both were very enjoyable, trails were well-maintained, the variety of cacti was unmatched, and we even saw a coyote slinking through the desert.
