I was excited to have some Vietnamese food so close to home, plus cocktails! What more could we want? Oh, recognition that we exist and are, in fact, seated in a restaurant. Even though we were seated by a hostess, my husband had to go find a menu. After 20 minutes without contact, we had to call out to the waiter who had, up to this point, assiduously avoided eye contact with us. Trying to disguise our growing anxiety, we politely asked if we might possibly be getting a server soon. He stated, "Ahhh, let me check..." and never returned. Wrong answer!! It wasn't even that busy. There was no wait, and there were still open tables. The manager and a drunken customer were casually clearing a table near us. After thirty minutes, we left, never to return. And no, we weren't speaking on a cell phone, dressed like homeless people, or in leper costume. The manager actually snickered as we left, and I wonder if he mistook one of us for his arch-nemesis. There is something very wrong with this place.
By the way, I have seen reviews elsewhere that say this is the only place in the area that serves Vietnamese food. That is not correct. Linh Nam is a family-run restaurant only a couple blocks east on Ina and the food there is fresh, delicious, and authentic, plus the servers are friendly and professional.
