We loved being so close to the national park. Our host gave us helpful maps and suggestions about hiking trails.
Joyce was solicitous about our comfort and studio. The ranch had a definite dessert feel.
We booked this rental 6 months prior to arriving, and when we arrived after driving from Canada, we certainly were not disappointed. The place was just as the pictures showed, and we immediately felt at home. We rented the largest of the available suites for a long term stay of four months. The place is a large country estate on the east edge of Tucson city limits, nestled against the Catalina mountains. The four rental units are in a large brick two level complex separated from the owners' house by a garden area. The mature construction of red brick, with huge white door arches, reflects true Arizona "era " buildings and was just what we hoped to find.
Joyce and Steve, the owners, were most helpful, showing us around and offering firsthand tips about the local attractions and amenities.
I would suggest renting the largest suite, Desert View Casita, in preference to the other suites which are smaller, if you're planning an extended stay. It has a large master bedroom with lots of clothes storage and closet space, huge kitchen, dining area, living room, and bathroom, and is on the second level. Although it does not have a bathtub, the shower is spacious and very accessible. There is also a washer and dryer and storage closet.
The location is about five minutes on paved road into Tucson, and offers incredible Sonoran Desert living without the noise and stress of the city environment. From our huge second level wrap around deck we spent many hours enjoying the gorgeous sunsets and mountain views, entertaining our guests and family. The whole estate provides peaceful, safe and natural surroundings. Morning walks around the onsite trails became the routine. You will need a vehicle to get around, and parking here is safe with tons of space, and stress free. We had no worries or issues.
Joyce and Steve have thoughtfully provided most everything from a gas barbecue on the deck to complete kitchen accessories, bedding, bathroom towels, a large television with multi choice viewing, secure wifi, and even a starter supply of consumables to help get settled in. The pictures of the rental suite they posted are exactly what you will find!
Both my wife and I felt as though we were right at home, with the owners close at hand if we needed anything or had questions about the local area. Joyce and Steve have good knowledge and understanding of the local area and they contributed greatly to make our stay most comfortable and enjoyable.
We consider them gracious hosts and new friends.
Our stay was relaxing and most enjoyable!
Last month we stayed at the Desert View and found it to be just to our liking -- a down-home vibe in a peaceful setting just a few minutes from the amenities of Tucson. Joyce was very diligent in making us feel comfortable, and addressed any of our questions or concerns quickly and efficiently. The views were spectacular, and we came away with some great photos taken right from the veranda. I must mention too that the bed was super-comfy. Should our travels take us to the Tucson area again in the future, this place will be our number one choice of accommodation.
We rented the Desert View Casita January 2016. We spent a nice month in this unit. If looking for a place to stay in Tucson area but away from all the noise and hustle of the city itself this is a perfect location. Quiet, wonderful sunsets and close to National Park for walks, hikes, bike riding. The unit itself was comfortable. A one-bedroom unit on the second floor. Fully equipped kitchen with nice views from the kitchen. Joyce was helpful with our questions via phone and e-mail before we arrived. When we had a question about the internet or the TV at the beginning of our stay she came over to help us with the concerns. This apartment, this location is one that we would definitely make use of again and would recommend to others.
My favorite thing about this place was how close it was to the many beautiful hiking trails on the east side - especially the renowned Saguaro National Park. The owner was very friendly and if we ever had a concern she quickly resolved it - all you have to do is ask. The sunsets were amazing and oh my land, the stars are UNBELIEVABLE at night because you're far enough away from the city lights. It was neat to hear a coyote howl one night as we ate our dinner. We had fun riding our road bikes and hiking near here. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was huge. It was a wonderful vacation and we plan on coming back next year!
Pool was not available during winter and is actually the main house owners pool for use of their family. Door posted in picture is the main houses patio area, with children using. Back door is deck with nice view of Catalina Mountains and Mt. Lemmon and Rincon Mountains.
Dirt driveway, and Studio is not very private. I stayed from Dec. 1 thru Mar. 31 and was fine for the stay. It is in a very nice quiet Ranch surrounded area !

Went to see both my grandkids graduate...selected this place as it was close to everyone... mistake... Unit was NOT as advertised... no stove... basically no kitchen... pool filter noise, right outside door, was over bearing... other reviews talk of desert views... Having lived in Tucson for over 10 year all I saw was dirt driveway and scrub trees... I know desert views... this was not one... was there for one week... and would definitely not recommend this place... any of them as they are not Casitas... Sorry just being honest...
