“A Fine, Surprising Stay”
Reviewed 10 August 2006

If my wife and I had not been scheduled to fly out of Tucson International fairly early in the morning, we probably would never have considered staying at the Country Inn and Suites on Tucson Boulevard which is located less than one-half mile from the airport's main entrance. But we did and we were winners as a result! We've stayed at lots of Country Inns across the country; this is unquestionably one of the best. The staff was personable and very helpful. Our room was large, extremely comfortable and accommodating. The complimentary continental breakfast in the morning was fine and the breakfast room far larger than most similar motel's. The so-called "business center" was far nicer and more useful than 95% of such places. Though the empty lot an earlier reviewer mentions has now given way to a rental truck lot replete with a menacing razor wire topped fence--a fact that diminishes somewhat the outer appearance of this motel--hopefully no-one will be put off. We come to Tucson regularly and often and we've stayed at a number of both large and small motels and hotels. Given the reasonable rates and all the other "pluses" that the Country Inn offers, this is certainly one of the best buys in town. I feel very safe in saying that anyone wishing to be near the airport, for whatever reason, can do no better and even those who do not ought to think twice before booking elsewhere.

We were 4 ladies needing a good night's sleep at a reasonable rate. I normally stay at the Embassy Suites, but they outpriced my budget this time so I was looking for a nice stay at a reasonable rate. Our rate here was $67/nt per room compared with $119/nt at the ES. So, I didn't expect a lot of quality, but we were pleasantly surprised. We reserved 2 rooms with 2 queen beds so each of us would have a bed. Arriving after dark, it's easy to miss the hotel entrance, as it is set back from the road with a vacant lot in front. The sign at the top of the hotel was illuminated well enough to spot it. Upon entering the hotel, you feel a homey atmosphere, attributed to the wood floors and warm furnishings in the lobby, carpeted staircase, and friendly welcome from the lady at the front desk. A glass jar of big cookies beckons from the top of the check-in counter. The hotel is clean and quiet. Two of our party went down to the pool/spa and had a good report from there. The other two of us got hot decaf coffee from the dining room (at 10pm). The next morning we had the breakfast in the dining room which is included in the room price. There were cereals, bagels/breads with a toaster, pancakes, hb eggs, scrambled eggs w/salsa - great!, 4 kinds of juice (guava juice, the best!), coffee, etc. Downsides: no one was tending the dining room, so not everyone got scrambled eggs. The TV in the dining room was quite loud for the size of the room. Overall: I would stay here again.

Had an extremely enjoyable stay. An airport location but quiet. The front desk personnel were exceptionally courteous and helpful. The rooms were adequately furnished and extraordinarly clean. The continental breakfast was adequate with a variety of cold and hot selections. Overall a comfortalbe, enjoyable experience.
