“great view, nice property”
Reviewed 25 October 2013

I was impressed with the quality of the breakfast and condition of the grounds. The property is motel style and most room entrances face oracle Road. Inside the rooms, I did not hear the traffic but this may be a concern, The lack of electrical outlets is very disappointing. A desk lamp with outlets would really be a big plus. The rooms were very clean. We had a king bed. The room description in incorrect. Ground floor King beds have a patio, but the other floor king bed rooms do not have a balcony, only rooms with two queens have balconies. This was a minor disappointment but we were hoping for a balcony to enjoy the view of the city. Beds very comfortable and wide screen TV, Small table for two in the king room. Staff was great.

Room Tip: Please note king rooms do not have balconies. The casitas did not show up on the Choice hotel web si...

Our less than acceptable stay started at check-in when the staff couldn't find our reservation made through Hot Wire. And that was with the confirmation paperwork in my hand! The outside of the hotel and grounds are beautiful. It is obvious this is where the emphasis has been. The inside of the hotel is not clean and the rooms are not in good shape. Our 1st room smelled so we switched to another room. That room was dark, the carpet filthy and the handle on the balcony door fell off the first time trying to use it. Although the towels were changed daily and the bed made, the staff never replaced our used coffee cups and we got by with one plastic cup the entire 3-day stay. I think the hotel may have recently changed ownership but guests should not suffer while new management gets it together. What about customer service? Staff needs serious training!

This hotel, being part of the Ascend collection, was a disappointment. I've stayed in Ascend hotels, this doesn't come close and actually damages the brand. I paid $71, thought it was because of the low summer season, but that's about all this property is worth. My room was facing Oracle Rd with an outdoor entrance. It is actually a motel type structure. I have not been in the casitas so perhaps that is a better stay. Electrical outlets are lacking in the room. The outlets do not even have a ground prong so computer cords and any other plug with a ground prong will not go into the wall outlets. Be sure to bring an adapter converting the plug to a two prong. This must have been a Hampton property in a previous life because the soap that Hampton properties use are in the bathroom. Carpet is green, dirty, and showing age. This whole room is a throwback to the 70's with very little updates since then. This hotel is an average Quality Inn property, definately not an Ascend hotel. Staff, especially Jose who checked me in, was very friendly and helpful. Beside the friendly staff, I doubt I'd stay here again unless I had no choice.

We've stayed here in the past. The property was sold several months ago. It's obviously in a transition stage. The new ownership is starting to make improvements and change direction. The pool area currently has chaise lounges with padding popping out. The restaurant is in the midst of construction and re-imagining. The buffet breakfast was terrific and well-maintained. We stayed in a casita. They are small but well-appointed. The grounds are well maintained. The staff is a mix of new employees and some that have been retained from the old regime. I'd give this place a few months to see what changes management makes before I'd return.

Room Tip: Choose a casita if you have the option.

I liked it guys with some notes. The bad: too much sunlight into room with shutters closed, lack of adequate ventilation in bathrooms if door not open, could be more private to get ventilation. The fair: bathroom/shower was ok if you don't mind southwest style, room was ok southwest style, lcd tv, desk, outdoor pool with small waterfall, cable ok. The good: breakfast area overlooks golf course, good service, easy check in, check out, near stores (Ina Rd). Advice: cover the shutters any way you can if you are a late sleeper or want to wake up late.
Overall, it worked for me but I did not use the internet if that is important to you.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the breakfast.

We really had a wonderful, relaxing stay at La Posada...besides a couple of hiccups. Our room was nice and cozy with beautiful southwestern decor but TV had no cable. The pool are was lovely with a waterfall and jacuzzi but we couldn't use it because there was a private party in the pool area with empty beer cans & food/trash everywhere! They partied til around midnight. That disappointed me the most. The front desk staff were very friendly when we called about the TV. They apologized that there was no maintenance around, it was 9pm on a Saturday night but she was kind enough to offer a suite a the Hampton Hotel & Suites further up the street. We would've accepted the upgrade but we liked the coziness of the room and we had a balcony with a wonderful view of the Mountains and a Gold Course. Since we decided to stay, the manager offered a discount for our next visit. I hope to be able to enjoy the pool and jacuzzi next time. The onsite restaurant, Miguel's, was nice. The food was ok..a little too salty but ok. Breakfast buffet on the other hand was delicious with a variety to chose from. Cereals, Bagels or Muffins, Scrambled Eggs with Cheese or French Toast, Fresh Fruit...etc. Overall, we loved the Hotel and Amenities and we look forward to going back soon.

I should have read tripadvisor prior to staying. The first room we had wasn't made up yet. The second room, a Casita, was nothing you'd expect for a Casita. The air conditioner didn't cool the entire living space. It was a very hot day, but they should have 2 units to cool it. The furniture was run down, holes in the drapes, no wine glasses and the worst coffee. The breakfast was basic but disorganized. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
