The Azure Gate is an oasis of comfort and refinement, a welcome home after a day out ezploring in the harsh desert. The gardens and pool are so lovely its tempting to just stay all day cuddled up outside with a good book watching the birds come and go, but SE AZ has many awesome sights we want to visit and Dennis and Christine have all the info, directions, and maps you will need. If you're a hiker like us, Dennis can offer tips for the best trails such as the Echo Canyon Trail at Chiracahua Ntl. Monument. And as for breakfast! Dennis is an artist. His meals are a treat to the eye and the palate. Many thanks to D&C for being such gracious hosts.

Room Tip: Saguaro and Sabino are both small but perfectly adequate. There is so much community space open to guests. You feel very much at home here in luxury.

When you work in the hospitality business, especially the luxury side of it you can't help but compare the places you visit to the place you work. I will say that I am generally disappointed when I travel and left wanting more. That said, I am thrilled to be able to bestow high honors on Azure Gate. All the reviews here on trip advisor are spot on and it was a true pleasure to be able to stay with Dennis and Christine. They have mastered the art of taking care of people and themselves and you feel the peace every moment you are there. We stayed in the main house and while the room is an average size, you have the run of the main house, so everything you could want or need is present. The weather turned wild and arctic while we were there...go figure...so I can't comment on how great the pool was...but it looked great. As mentioned by every reviewer, the breakfasts are just ridiculously amazing (Thank you Dennis!) and the fact that you sit down with all the other guests to eat at the same table makes for a great start to the day. All the other guests that were there were multiple repeat guests who have made the Azure Gate their home away from home for years...and after getting to know them you feel right at home. It's like visiting family (you know...the one's you like.)
This is THE PLACE...so stop looking and make a reservation (fingers crossed you can get one!!!)

Our first visit, and we had a wonderful stay for two nights. Christine and Dennis are the ideal hosts - friendly, informative, interesting, with the right balance of knowing when to mix with guests and when guests prefer to keep to themselves. The house and gardens are beautiful, breakfasts truly worth traveling for, and fellow guests and conversation a pleasure. This is one of the nicest B&Bs we have ever stayed at.

Our 2nd visit to the Azure Gate, and the same great experience. It was wonderful to see Dennis & Christine again - they made us feel like old friends being welcomed home. The gourmet breakfasts, the beautiful house & grounds and the warm and friendly atmosphere are unlike other B&B's we have tried elsewhere. Can't wait to go back a 3rd time.

My husband and I leave Door County, Wisconsin, in mid February to escape the damp, wet, cold weather of March and April. ALWAYS, we travel first to Tucson to stay at the Azure Gate B&B, which we discovered in 2003, the first year they were open. Over the years we have stayed in each of the four accomodations and could not recommend one over the other. Each has a TV/DVD player so guests can access the Widman's library of, literally, thousands of movies. However, there is so much to do in the Tucson area (ideas of where to go and what to do generously organized and catalogued by Dennis and Christine), that there is hardly time to tap this resource.

And the breakfasts....OH MY! Recently we were the only guests in attendance (a rare event) and Dennis surprised us with rack of lamb, artfully displayed with slices of hard boiled egg, mint sauce and gnocchi in butter sage sauce. Need I say more about breakfast?

We always look forward to at least four days at the Azure Gate, and always leave with regret. It is, by far, our favorite.
