Negatives: We booked for a room that would sleep 5 people. Apparently that means to double beds (which would not sleep 2 adults comfortably) and a blow up air mattress (which we had to ask for twice) wedged between the dresser and the foot of the beds, leaving no room to walk. I inquired about upgrading to a suite, but was informed that they were no bigger as far as sleeping space went. The bath linens, which I expected to be large and fluffy at a 5 star resort, were small and scratchy. The staff at the front desk was great, but the staff at the pool and restaurant hostesses were horrible and condescending. Speaking of pools, one reason we booked here was the lap pool, as my son is an athletic swimmer. Unfortunately , that pool was inaccessible to him because he is not 18, even though I never saw a single guest utilize that pool during our entire stay. The other pools were ridiculously chaotic and not at all relaxing. The service at the pool were extremely slow (20min for a drink). Also, the way the resort is designed, we had to use 2 different elevators and hike through the lobby to get to the pool. The number of people traipsing through the gorgeous lobby area in bathing suits and flip flops with blow up rafts turned the 5 star atmosphere into a joke. Although we got a great rate on our rooms, everything else was VERY pricey, as expected (breakfast buffet was $25 per person, but delicious). I would have rather paid a flat $500 per night all inclusive then pay the same and feel like I was being "nickeled and dimed" to death.
Positives: The grounds were beautiful and the water pressure in the showers was great.

The week started out rough as we received some incorrect information from Marriott corporate, which was later Addressed by Mgmt. The eatery spots on prem were just absolutely amazing . signature Grill, Crista was amazing , and Joe was our absolute favorite . This young man just goes above And beyond each and every time.,, true asset to JW. Brit was also extremely kind and responsive. If you want a change in Menu, though not advertised I highly recommend Catalina BBQ. You can either drive down the mile and a half or so or the Gents up front will shuttle you down. If you have the chance to try it ,,ask for Stefanie . Again another amazing asset of JW.

We will be return..........

Cole at the front desk was awesome! The room was beautiful & smelled fresh and clean when we walked in. For being an extremely busy weekend at the hotel, service didn't skip a beat... The entire resort staff did a phenomenal job at hosting the 4th of July event. Kids had a blast!! The food was excellent from breakfast to dinner. Celina is super friendly & made the perfect omelette. Posole was delicious too! I was able to skip away to the Spa for an amazing treatment with Brooke and I departed the hotel feeling rejuvenated! The JW Starr Pass is naturally beautiful and our favorite Arizona Resort! We will be back to visit Santa in December :) Thank you for consistently being awesome!!!

Our family was properly and courteously greeted at Valet and offered a bellman who took care in handling our luggage to our room. Check in was quick with an explanation of the activities being put on during the July 4th weekend. I strongly recommend a cabana rental ($400) during this weekend due to the large crowd that uses the pool and lazy river. Our family enjoyed a meal at Primo which included a several specials and preferred wines graciously explained by our server. Will will visit again.

Beautiful location and good service. Rooms well appointed and great view of the fireworks on the golf course. NOT for couples looking for a romantic getaway. Main pool is an absolute zoo with lots of kids and v loud music. Spa pool is a refuge for adults.

On June 28, 2014 we had a wonderful "ladies breakfast". Max, as usual was Wonderful and Celina provided beauty, laughter and a mighty good omelet! It is so good to have kind and warm people around you and Max and Celina are the "cream of the crop". Max and Celina keep on being the Wonderful, Thoughtful, Caring, Loving people that you are because both of you make the world a much better and happier place!
