The Garland is a family-owned and run little joint on Tucson's west-central side. Maybe I'm a little bit of a homer because I've worked there as well as dining there, but since the family decided to focus exclusively on the breakfast/lunch menu, the service has improved and the food is still as good as ever - generous portions at a reasonable price. I'm always a fan of the blue corn pancakes and the fruit crepes and home-fries/breakfast potatoes are still the best in town!

Ate there once or twice. Can't recall because it wasn't very remarkable. They have a few vegetarian and vegan options but they are vegetarian friendly but not nearly as accommodating for vegans. Our waitress kept disappearing on us.

I've visited the Garland numerous times over four or five years. The food has always been well prepared. It tends very much towards the healthy and wholesome direction, but without being overbearingly so. Not pretentiously healthy, just very, very good. For a place far from the coast, I have to say that they definitely know how to prepare fish. I've never had less than wonderful & satisfying meal, whether large or small. This is one of the spots I always visit when in Tucson.

The baked goods are said by accompanying friends to be a high point. And some reviews think this is Garland's forte. I cannot comment on this, as I have always been contentedly full of other things.

If you want pure veggie, this is not the place, though they do veggie dishes well. Devoted veggies may be happier at Govinda's on Blacklidge Dr. They are in a rather obscure location -- don't give up, it is well worth it for the peace, the food, and the tranquility.

Good, but definitely overpriced.
Probably best for breakfast, although all meals are offered.
The atmosphere is nice: a large, old house set on a nonchalant section of Speedway.
For the vegetarian, but there are meat dishes.
