Desert Trails Bed and Breakfast

We are veteran B & B travelers and it does not get any better than this. Please read other reviews. John had a few suggestions to change our itinerary that were awesome, Mt. Lemmon Observatory instead of downtown U of A, for example. They really know the area but what sets John and Steffi apart is their willingness to take the time share their ideas (restaurants, etc.)
Awwww, super clean, the quiet of the thick brick walls; longer choice of breakfast times; view of the pool, horses, and hummingbirds during a hot full spread breakfast; and just far enough out of town to see all of the night sky. We loved it.

I wanted to get some sun, enjoy the desert, and get some hiking in. Desert Trails is the best spot for all of these. Less than 1 mile from Saguaro National Park's nearby maze of awesome trails, and located in a quiet part of Tucson, this was the perfect spot. Hosts John and Steffi were extremely gracious, the food was great, and the furnishings felt like home. Slept like a log. The location made getting to Sabino Canyon, Mt. Lemmon, and Madera Canyon easy. Looking forward to returning again soon when I need to get out of the Oregon gray winter! Thanks for a great stay!

Had a wonderful 2-night stay with John and Steffi. Their home is lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the setting, just west of Tucson and 2 miles from the Douglas Springs trailhead in Saguaro National Park West, was perfect. They were wonderful hosts, suggesting hikes, restaurants, etc. My room (Spud Rock) was spotless and comfortable. Drinks and snacks were available all day, and there were detailed hiking maps to help with my day hikes in the Park.

We had the most amazing 3 nights at this beautiful bed and breakfast and wish we could have stayed longer. It is set in the most peaceful and idyllic place - surrounded by hills, enormous cacti and fantastic wildlife. We awoke in the morning to the sight of humming birds feeding and watched them whilst we had breakfast. We stayed in the annexe of the house which was perfect for us as we had our 14 year old son with us and needed a bit of extra space. It had everything we needed, stove, huge fridge, tv. barbecue etc. There is also a lovely swimming pool and next to the Bed and Breakfast there are horse-riding stables. We did an evening horse-ride which was lovely. The hosts John and Steffi couldn't do enough for us and made us very welcome. John does amazing breakfasts and each one was different which made a nice change. I would recommend this B+B to everyone and cannot wait to visit again someday.

My partner and I have just left here after seven days. We had the guest house and I cannot complain About anything.
We arrived late at night and the keys were left out for us and a note asking if we required breakfast and at what time. And may I add the breakfasts are only $5.00 per person and are to die for. You won't need lunch. John the host is a marvellous cook and cannot do enough for you. On the property you are surrounded by all sorts of birds, critters and cacti.
It is so peaceful and u wake up to the sounds of the birds. The hummingbirds are particularly beautiful. The premises has a pool which was a relief from the heat. It is a fair distance from any shops and so a car is a necessity, but it is easy to get around especially with a GPS for the car.
I would definitely stay here again.

We went to the Inn on Memorial day weekend 2013 and it was like heaven on earth. If you are looking for a wonderful quiet time with good food and wonderful people you have to visit the Desert Trails Bed and Breakfast. I have been to quite a few places in and out of the country, but even though this was a very short visit, this one was the best. John and Steffi make you very welcome, but also respect your privacy. The place is very romantic and John is a great cook!!!
The only drawback was we had to leave.

The innkeepers/owners of this B&B are quite delightful and friendly. They provide the seclusion desired, but the services of a bed and breakfast that fit specific needs. The property is very beautiful and with only several rooms can be enjoyed by guests with out worrying about bumping into others or over talkative innkeepers. The communication can be kept private by the friendly notes posted out side your doors to ensure breakfast requests are met or if a bill needs to be paid before departure. The Spud Rock room has a very large bath area and comfy living space. I enjoyed the ability to roam freely to the pool, our vehicle, or an adjacent area with picnic tables from the sliding doors exit/entry way. Lots of humming birds were visible daily and the snacks and sodas are a great perk to a stay at this B&B.
Although we were staying mostly for work, this abode made it feel like vacation and I am sure we'd stay again if we were to pass through on pleasure.

Room Tip: Spud rock has a nice secluded patio and a saguaro!
