“Mediocre”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 October 2013

Our stay at the Arizona Inn was mediocre at best. Room rate was $219 in early October for an ordinary room.
Toilet plugged 3 times, maid did not clean room till after 4 PM, service in restaurants was slow.
There is in room coffee but the maid cleans the cups and glasses as well as the coffee pot in the bathroom and probably uses the same cloth to wipe out the glasses as she does to wipe the sinks and counters.
Have heard so much about the Arizona Inn but was very disappointed overall. Really expected much more from this iconic hotel in Tucson Our experience does not match most of the online reviews.

Room Tip: Try to get a room near the front desk as people with difficulties walking will have a hard time gett...

A beautiful hotel spread across sprawling grounds - old in a good way. People were beyond friendly. Was here for work, and they bent over backwards to help us. Came in September and rates were very very cheap - $125/night - and they upgraded us to suites with fireplaces. Rates go up in winter. Really, really enjoyed the place. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in town and the rates are affordable.

Our family spent a night at Arizona Inn the night before we headed to Canyon Ranch. We arrived late morning, enjoyed the beautiful grounds and serene pool. Had a complimentary Ice Cream Sundae Bar at the pool before a dinner under the stars ...magical. Waitstaff Ron and Jesse were exceptional! Dinner delicious.

Room Tip: Some of the deluxe rooms are larger (corner rooms) and have a private patio

From the moment we arrived we knew the Arizona Inn was a special hotel. The staff are extremely well trained and nothing is left to chance. Any request we had was attended to in a prompt and courteous and friendly manner. Our room was huge and straight out of an elegant bygone era, but beautifully maintained, something that is lacking in the chrome and glass minimalist hotels of the modern day. We felt so at home in our room and it was really pleasant to return from a day sightseeing to wander to our room through the beautifully cared for gardens, which one occasionally saw rabbits playing in. The bed was divine, king size and very conducive to a relaxing night's sleep. I'm so pleased the owners haven't modernised this grand lady, but kept her in original fashion, adding discretely necessary modern amenities like wi-fi. The dining room has meals that are second to none...not the cheapest, but worth trying. All in all a wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: Room 409 was a stand alone cottage, so very quiet and secluded.

A stay at the Arizona Inn in Tucson is a must for first-time visitors. Although Tucson is replete with modern golf resorts, for those who desire comfort, understated elegance, and true hospitality this antique gem promises all and more. Never remodeled but meticulously maintained, it boasts of some more notable guests over the years.

Located near the University of Arizona and ten minutes from downtown Tucson, this peaceful oasis for the traveler who desires a slower pace that harkens back to earlier days is a perfect venue. Over its interesting history, the grounds and rooms have been maintained to the highest standards. The rooms are furnished with original pieces, but provide the comfort weary travelers require. In the evening, guests can play croquet on the lush lawn. Clay tennis courts are a plus for those who enjoy the sport.

The dining room offers traditional cuisine where diners may choose to eat outside overlooking the lush grounds. Brunch is hosted on Sundays for special occasions. The service and cuisine are equal to the quality of the inn.

Of note, the library with its authentic saguaro ribbed ceiling is a 'must see'. Harry Truman enjoyed a stay at the inn and is honored there. INcluded in its comprehensive collection are many historical accounts and photographs.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that leads out to the gardens.

A gem in what can be an overwhelming choice in Tucson.
Give this historic inn a chance to become our stay of choice in old Tucson. Can the fact that this had remained in the same famy in 80 years mean anything you need they have thought of everything to keep you happy, my husband and I appreciate this after 17 years being innkeepers, we will be back.
PS love that it is an older clientele for the relaxing mode.

I know what it takes to keep a hotel this old in workable and presentable condition. We have the Stage Stop Inn in Patagonia a near by town. This place has Old World elegance and a great staff plus lots of extras. Can't wait to come back.
PS coffee needs a little work

Room Tip: All good! This place is very large.
